- At 7:13 PM Tuesday Night, we had an earthquake!
- We were watching a rerun of NCIS LA at that moment.
- I could hear a roar in the distance, which I thought was a train.
- A second later, it sounded like the train was coming through the house.
- The walls shook.
- The dogs jumped up and barked!
- I jumped up, terrified!
- I asked Hubby what it was?
- He said he was sure it was an earthquake! Originally it was called 4.6 on the Richter Scale.
- We live approximately 45 miles from the epicenter.
- It only lasted a few seconds, but it felt longer!
- I’m still upset, even though they lowered the measurement to a 4.0!
- Guess that’s why I don’t live near an active fault line!
Or do I?
We had a first one in VA too about 5 years ago that shocked everyone. And then a second bigger one more recently. I’m guessing you live in Maine?
It’s always a shocker the first time you experience a quake – especially one that big – in an area not known for them. I had my first Tennessee quake while home for a summer visit – it was a pretty good size, too. Luckily, I was already fairly used to a few tremors here and there after living in Italy.
I wish you a happy (and quake-free) TT!
I feel the earth move under my feet la la la 😉
SCARY! I’ve only felt one significant quake and it was in the middle of the night. I thought my apartment was coming down. Yuck!
I know here in CA they often sounds like a train coming!
They really are amazing to feel as long as they don’t do any damage.
It is generally weird the first time. The first time I noticed one, I was home sick due to massive vertigo. So I kept thinking–wow everything is shaking. Then I turned on the news and found out it wasn’t me!
Glad you’re ok.
I have never felt one even though we had one where I live not long ago. I was driving on the interstate in the car when it happened and didn’t feel it. I hate that I missed it.
I was one using the girls room when we had an earthquake. Talk about being freaked out!
We felt it too, in NY near the Quebec border!
Yeah, it was something, eh? We had a smaller one here about a decade ago, I think. This one was much cooler.
Oh yikes!!
WOW… Not been in one, so I can’t really comment too much… But after seeing so much devistation in Christchurch, I am grateful it wasn’t that strength for you…
Wow, that’s frightening ! We had it once years ago everybody was up except me I slept. A collegue of mine had slept too and thought it was her dog who scratched himself when her bed moved, lol !
Wow, I know that feeling. We had one in Marland , first time ever, last summer. Freaky
, glad you’re okay!
