Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How did you welcome the month of July, and tell us one fun thing you did to celebrate the 4th. (or the weekend for any non-USA residents playing along today)

The fourth was a challenge. Two and a half year old Lili (White German Shepherd, 80 pounds) was terrified of the noise.

I used some Benedryl to calm her, but the poor girl was simply frantic.

I did make a nice roast and vegetable stir fry, as well as an awesome fruit salad!

2. Right now..what’s your favorite red thing? white thing? blue thing?

Red and blue, my fruit salad with watermelon and blueberries! White thing? Mmmmm, Gee, not sure. Maybe my coffee mug!

3. Wave the white flag, raise a red flag, fly your freak flag…which ‘flag’ have you flown most recently? Explain.

I have no idea what a freak flag is. None of the above fit. I am celebrating right now, as I am getting a lot done de-cluttering wise!

4. According to Cond Nast Traveler these are the seven best places to visit in July-

a boat safari in Botswanna’s Okavango Delta, Riviera Maya Mexico (it’s whale shark season and apparently you can swim with them), Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Pamploma Spain, St. Petersburg Russia, the Fuji Rock Festival at Mount Naeba Japan, the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria

If time and money weren’t factors would you want to see any/all of these? Which would you most like to see and why?

Oh I would go to Salzburg, Austria! And since money is no object I would take my sister, daughter, grandchildren and cousin, as well as send for a few of my best friends!

5. Grilled cheese, pimento cheese, or mac and cheese…your favorite from the cheesy treats listed?

On a day when I have a winter cold and feel feverish, I find comfort in grilled cheese, with Campbell’s tomato soup!

6. What makes you sweat?

Since menopause set in, almost anything and everything!

7. Your favorite movie with a ‘patriotic’ theme of some sort?

Well, for fun I think the American President, with Michael Douglas.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am trying to adjust myself to learn to live and like coffee with no cream, and finding that a bit tough. I love my fat free creamer, but when I looked at the number of Smart Points in each cup I drank, I decided to kick the FF Creamer habit. Boy is this tough! Next is my tea.

  1. I have to have a splash of cream in my coffee. I don’t drink more than one cup in the morning and am not someone who buys coffee drinks so I allow myself the cream. I like milk in my tea, not cream. Have a great day!

  2. Try fat free milk and maybe you’ll adjust to that lighter version.
I loved Austria, so count me in on a trip. Salzburg is wonderful. I loved the Sound of Music tour! Love YOU, Mel

  3. I too love cinnamon in my coffee! I sprinkle it on the grounds before brewing 🙂 Thanks for including me in the trip <3 Oh, and we need to do our lobster feast soon!

  4. Poor Lili. We have the same troubles here on New Year’s Eve, I finally figured out that if I turn up the stereo loud enough to drown out the outside noise, none of the critters get scared.
