Easter Fun!

Easter arrived in New Hampshire with bright skies and cold temperatures. I looked outside at the remaining three and a half feet of snow and I somehow did not feel spring-like or Easter-like at all. Everything inside of me said “winter”!

Since Emily had spent the night I set about making breakfast for all. I put together blueberry pancakes and maple syrup for them. I’d discovered a sugar free maple syrup for Hubby, so he was able to partake in the feast with no guilt! I stayed with my usual Weight Water’s breakfast meal.

We had such fun with Emily last night. We watched the movie, “The Goonies”, ate pop corn and played with the dogs. It feels very natural to have her here, as she has become a part of our extended family. It was a very lucky day the day that Emily and her family moved in next door!

The Easter Bunny stopped by our house as well and left little baskets for the three girls. They all enjoyed their treats and when Sarah was leaving she looked at me and said, “I knew there would be a treat here.” I asked her why and she said, “Because you love us!”

And you know what? I really do!

Happy New Year 2008

Here we are. It’s 2008!

Another year begins.

A year ago at the start of 2007 I made these resolutions. I was looking at them and thinking that I sort of blew the weight loss and physical fitness ones, but I did grow out my hair, I took Arnie to the dog show and showed him, despite my shyness, and I house trained not just one puppy, but two!

So really, I did pretty well. Especially with the hair.

I went from this:
Newborn 2
To this:
Nov 17 1cartegena 10
And it is still growing.

I took Arnie to the show and he got the highest rating that is given to the dachshunds by the German judges. He was rated as being Vorzüglich, or Excellent!!!

Sept 21 020

I also house trained Arnie and his sister Anneliese. I did not intend to keep two puppies from this litter, but somehow it was meant to be that Arnie stay here with us. I look back now, over the last 12 months and I can’t imagine life without him or her in it!

Dec 31 009

I’m looking forward to seeing what the next year will bring. Longer hair, a new litter of puppies, another dog show (Anneliese this time) and perhaps this year will be the year that I tackle my weight problem and get exercising too.

The possibilities are endless!

So as I sit here watching 2007 fade into the record books, and 2008 slowly begin to unfold I wish for you, dear readers, a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!!

Another Snow Day

Today was “After Christmas Shopping Day” for Hubby and me. We drove south to the “big city” and went to shops like “Macy’s”, and LL Bean and the “Mall”. We bought all sorts of things, but I think Hubby got the best buys, with a dress coat and a lighter weight winter coat. I was thrilled with 6 new cotton tops, and a beautiful pair of leather gloves.

We lunched at one of our favorite buffet restaurants, and during this time, it started to rain. The rain then turned to snow, and soon the roads were a mess. On our way home we saw 4 accidents. I never worry about Hubby’s driving, as he is really good in the snow, but I do worry about other terrible drivers sliding into us. We did, however, get safely home.

It is still snowing.

On the TV weather news, they were speaking tonight about the fact that we are already close to breaking records for snow this winter. I can believe that!

Emily “puppy sat” for us while we were gone today. She took the puppies out and went sledding in the back yard with them. Tonight they are both pretty tired.

As is Hubby, who is now asleep in his recliner!

Me? I’m tired too. I think I will get my pajamas on and just relax in front of the TV. My sister gave me the cutest flannel pajamas.

I think I will wear these tonight. Just perfect for the Dackel Princess, yes?

It’s All About Time…

Time is running out and I still have a little shopping to do. Perhaps tomorrow, or Friday. I’m not going to stress about it.

Did you all notice how quickly Christmas has come upon us this year? I’m just not ready for it. Perhaps the trip delayed my shopping, or put my mind in other places.

Today Hubby and I did a little shopping for each other. We got these great hats at LL Bean that match. His is blue and mine is black. I will have to get a picture of us in them! We also bought some clothes and I quite happily found a new oatmeal colored wool sweater. You know me, I LOVE LL Bean!!!

When we got home Hubby worked repairing our snow blower so it is all ready for the next storm. It blew the head gasket during the last storm and so the repair was critical. Please don’t ask me what a head gasket is, I am sure that I couldn’t explain it if I tried…LOL

I hope you will stop in tomorrow for a special entry. I’ve been working on it for a few days and I hope you will enjoy it, as much as I did making it.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Making Someone’s Day

Every year since we moved back to New Hampshire, I have baked, and delivered cookies, jams and jellies to special people in our lives. The Post Office people who sort our mail, the Veterinarians, who takes care of my fur kids, and various neighbors who make our lives wonderful!

Today I delivered a few baskets to people. The best was to our 90 year old neighbor, Frank. He is a widower and lives alone at the top of our driveway in a house that he and his late wife built. He is a man of few words, but whenever I see him I always give him a big smile and a big hug, no matter how bad my day is going.

And I always come away from our visits smiling.

Today I brought him his cookies, jams and some apples from our trees and he told me I didn’t have to do that. I said, that I did.

“Why?” he asked me.

“That’s easy, because I love you!”

I could see tears well up in his tired eyes, and I hugged him.

You know, this is one of the best Christmas gifts I get every year. The gift of knowing that I have made someone else’s day.

I think that is what Christmas is all about!

It’s Begining To Look A Lot Like Christmas…

Today I went crazy. Yes, crazy. I went out, on a Saturday to shop, and we all know that this is a CRAZY thing to do 10 days before Christmas, especially when a major snow “event” is being forecast for the next day. However, I had a good reason to do this. I needed to buy important things.

Flour, butter, and brown sugar. Yes, the makings of cookies at Christmas.

Tomorrow New England is due for a big storm. Whether this actually occurs, I cannot predict, but I thought that I would get everything I needed to make cookies so I can watch the New England Patriots game and bake.

Football and cookies. It doesn’t get any better than that!!!

I love to bake cookies, and I am going to bake four different kinds. Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodles and Ginger Crisps. If all goes well, on Monday I can start making deliveries to those I want to remember with some home baked goodies.

Yes, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Snow, Cookies and Football!
