I loved The Apprentice last night. I didn’t like Toral from the start. What a pompous witch she is! Anyway, it was great to see her go down in flames, and then to so publicly reveal what a horrible person she is on National Television! I do not believe to be successful in the world you have to be a witch. I think, in the end, that good people finish first. (or at least this Pollyanna would like to believe that!)

I am starting to dream about the deplorable state of my bed pillow. I keep forgetting to buy a new pillow, or when I do actually get to a store, I can’t make up my mind. But the pillow I have now is so flat, that I have to do something soon and spoil my head and neck!

Greta’s eye looks good today. It has a nice healthy looking scab and I’ll give it a cleaning and another round of antibiotic ointment. She is really funny, though, she had not forgiven Fritz. Last night he came over to our chair, and she growled at him and snapped. Of course that was last night. Today she seems to have forgotten and is acting normally with him.

I got out all my winter turtlenecks and sweaters and got those organized and put away.

Do you think it will ever stop raining in New Hampshire? They announced this morning that in the last two weeks we have had the equivalent of three months worth of rain. We’re lucky, as we’re in a mountainous area that really hasn’t been affected by the flood waters. Still, it is very sad to see familiar areas literally washed away.

My cousin, Janet has been doing a month long photo entry a day on her Blog. Well, not to be outdone, here is a sweet face that I found not too far from my home during a cider run!

I found this great low carb, flax, whole wheat flat bread to make roll ups with. It has only 7 carbs and 50 calories! I decided to try it, thinking that if it was terrible, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. And guess what? It’s great! Also I find when I make a roll up it really fills me up. It’s called “Joseph’s Lavash Bread”

Have any of you seen the new TV Guide? I really don’t like it. All the local listings are gone, ad it is simply another cheap “beautiful people” magazine! I subscribe, and unless I see something really change in the next few weeks I will cancel my subscription! Anyone else?

Well Fritz was playing a little too roughly with Greta and…”YELP”! This is what happened!

I’ve cleaned the wound near her eye and I hope all will be okay. If it doesn’t look good tomorrow I’ll take her in. But geeze, I feel like I live at my Vets!
Meanwhile, Fritz is in the proverbial dog house!

I don’t really have too much to write except that I’m not feeling well. Nothing I can put my finger on, just a general all over ache, extreme tiredness, and just sort of not wanting to do much besides sleep.
Of course, when in life can you actually do that? Yesterday I had a shopping list a mile long that HAD to be done, and then meals to cook. Today I am just cooking a big pot of Chicken, Escarole & Meatball Soup that should be good for several meals.
Just when I think I am getting caught up with the laundry, I had Fritz run in covered with mud, jump on the sofa and mess up the sofa cover. So off that came to be washed. Then, Greta threw up on the bath mat and that needed to be washed too! Lord save me from the wash basin!
If I am a very good girl, I am hoping to be able to sit and actually watch “All My Children” quietly today with a nice hot cup of tea! That would be so nice.

For those of you who love the Red Sox as I do, and watched them go down in flames this season, remember: “Fever Pitch” is now available at your local video store and in that movie, the Red Sox always win.
I broke down and bought my own copy and I think on this dark and dismal day I will watch it. I need a boost.

Okay after a week back on South Beach and being very strict, which for me means that I don’t eat the bad carbs like potatoes, bread, etc., but I do eat all vegetables like reasonable amounts of corn and butternut squash, etc., because those are good natural carbs, I have lost 4 pounds. I am eating all my meals and snacks and if I feel shaky at all I just go grab a piece of low fat cheese.
Yesterday I went to a Food Co-Op and they had this awesome Deli section with great low carb salads. Mango health salad, broccoli slaw and the worlds best seafood salad. This place also has their own Sushi Chef right there! I knew before hand I would be buying a lot so I had a cooler in my trunk.
Tonight is Mexican night here at my house. Surprisingly Tacos are not that high in carbs.

I drove to the doctor’s today for my appointment. This was a recheck on a breast lump I found late last winter. The biopsy was clear then, but the doctor wanted to wait six months to see if anything developed.
Meanwhile, I stopped taking HRT and of course have spent a lot of time praying about this and keeping my fingers crossed.
Over the months, I’d felt that my lump was not as big. I also noticed that once I was a few months without the HRT that my breasts were less “lumpy”. (I hope this isn’t too graphic for people, but I feel it is important)
Today’s exam was a good one and I came through with flying colors. Yes, the lump is in fact smaller, nearly undetectable. And the nodes under my arm are not swollen at all.
The doctor believes that this was caused mostly by the HRT and that I shouldn’t use it at all in the future.
Don’t worry, I won’t!
So during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I can say that I am doing GREAT!
And I am so very thankful!!!

Okay, now I know there are a lot of people out there who hate Martha Stewart, but I have to tell you, after last night I think she rocks.
I watched her version of the Apprentice where they had to design a wedding cake and then sell their mock up at a Bridal Fair. There was this one chick who was so obnoxious about it. She could have cared less, and at one point said to the man supervising things for Martha, “If we don’t win this, you should fire me.” And then she laughed.
She was one of those “pretty girls”. The type that always get by on their looks and never their actual work. She was supposed to help out with design and sales and she did neither. She was all fluff.
And her team lost.
But everyone likes her, she is so “sweet”.
So when the hapless Project Manager has to select two people to come back into the boardroom, he selects two less attractive people. And Miss Cutie Pie goes sailing up to the suite.
Martha didn’t like that, so she had her secretary call up to the suite and bring them all down. Then she asked very specific questions of our beauty queen. Who made the fatal error of responding, “You have to fake it, until you make it!”
Not in Martha’s world, Not in the real world! She fired her proverbial butt and sent her packing!
I say one thing here and one thing only.
Good for you Martha!!!
