This & That Weekend

I’m sitting here looking at the before grooming pictures of Greta and the after. I am amazed! She is looking like a proper little Rauhhaardackel now! I ordered the second grooming tool I need to finish her up, but for right now, I am really pleased with the results.

Before

After

It was just beautiful here today and the dogs got to play outside a lot. Hubby and I checked on our fruit trees, which are at a point called green tip. This means that the buds are open enough so you can see just a tiny bit of green peeking out. Most of the trees came though the winter well, although two are heavily winter damaged. I hope they recover, but only time will tell.

After several weeks of research I have decided that I like Netscape 8.1 best for my browser. I get NO pop-ups, and I love the tab browsing. I found several things I did not like in Firefox and Mozilla. Which is odd because all three programs were essentially written by the same people. For my mail, Netscape 7.2 does everything I want it to do with no glitches. I had one heck of a time with Thunderbird, which didn’t want to send my pictures in a format I wanted to send them in. So phooey on that! I now have the computer programmed and working to my liking. Just call me picky!

I’m trying to think of what to make for our dessert on Easter. It’s looking like apple crisp. Hubby loves that and I have everything I need to do it. So the menu is ham, asparagus, baked stuffed potatoes and apple crisp. Does it get any better than that?

Check This Out

I found this website a year or so ago. I love the way this artist portrays dackels. It is obvious that he lives with them and loves them as much as I do. His drawings make me think of Greta.
My friend Uschi gave me two of his books of drawings for Christmas this past year. I was so thrilled (still am), and I sit and stare at the pictures quite often. Martin Blank’s
website is in German, but it is worth the time to click around and check out the beautiful art work of his.
Oh, to have this kind of talent!

Greta’s Ears

I took a big step. I taught myself how to strip Greta’s ears. Now I know there are some of you sitting there thinking, what’s so tough about stripping the ears of a Rauhhaardackel (wire-haired dachshund), ? Well, there are no books here, or guides. I’m sure if I were back in Germany I could find a millions books on the subject (all written in German, I’m sure), but here in New Hampshire, there are none to be found, zero, zip, zilch!
I looked at books, pictures, went to web sites of champion dackels, and then just sat down and started working. Greta was not thrilled, but she was patient and she allowed me to work. They look pretty good, not perfect, but good for a first attempt.
What do you think?

Where Was My Soul Born?

This is interesting as I am a native Cape Cod-er! Born to swim.

Where was your soul born?[pics + detailed answeres]

Your soul was born in the Ocean. The true daydreamer. Your element is Water. You’re calm and collected, just like Earth, but unlike Earth you love to daydream. You love to create a world of your own and just drift away in daydreams. You observe but you rarely interfere. You don’t like large crowds, but you have a few friends and you’re not afraid of making more as long as you don’t have to take the first step. You’re careful to pick your words and you hate to hurt people. You are very easily hurt yourself and if someone harms you or your friends in any way, you will probably never trust that person again. You need to face the world. You can’t hide in your dreams forever. Don’t give up just because something didn’t go as you planned! More chances will come.
