June!

Happy June Everyone!!!
Now we have gotten to the “summer months” I am thinking, sun, heat, and fun!
When I was a kid growing up on Cape Cod, June always meant the arrival of the crazy tourists. The people who would go shopping in the local tourist traps, see pieces of bleached wood with a plastic seagull stuck on it and proclaim it divine! (chokes)
But in my childs mind, it also meant the end of school, the freedom to ride my bike all over the place, (back then kids could actually do that without worrying their parents) and long hours at the beach.

My cousins always came for a vacation too. Janet and her brother Larry. Janet and I are close in age and we’re like sisters. We loved our Barbies, riding bikes, swimming and lying in the sun and listening to the radio.
I remember at night lying in bed, on sheets that felt as soft as milk, listening to my sister tell ghost stories to us. She was the best story teller. I remember one time I fell asleep in the middle of the story and then I woke up and said, “what happened next?” but everyone was asleep.
Summertime. Sun, heat and fun!

  1. LOVELY! Nice memories! I can feel those sheets, and feel the cool ocean water on my hot skin. Not to mention taste the salt. Good times and happy sunny days!

  2. Hmmm…I think we should rent a cottage on the cape somewhere for my birthday. We can listen to my iPod on the beach, swim, have a frozen Milky Way, read vampire books, bike ride, relax, and Mel can tell us spooky stories til the cows come home! Hell, maybe we can even play Barbies!!! I’ve been wanting the Legolas & Galadriel barbies!!!
