OMG

What a busy day! I had not planned for it to be so busy, but it just turned out that way. Between Hubby, the dogs and cleaning, I was really out straight.

You see, last night they predicted that we would be having a frost. Since I have 12 potted patio plants I was worried about them. Would they freeze?

So I carried them all into the green house, closed that us, and went to bed. This morning, I carried them all back outside, watered them and noticed that it had not, in fact, gotten cold enough to freeze!

I set about doing all I needed to do and by 3 PM I was quite literally exhausted. It will not be hard to go to bed early tonight, which is good, as I must get up early tomorrow.

Big day on Saturday. I will write about it on Sunday. Have a wonderful weekend!

The flood edition.

  1. I noticed a puddle in the basement the other day.
  2. I walked it off, and determined it had to come from the dishwasher.
  3. We pulled the dishwasher out, and found the split hose.
  4. Good!
  5. We ordered the hose.
  6. It came in record time.
  7. W e replaced the hose.
  8. And found another leak.
  9. Isn’t that always the way?
  10. The washer is nearly repaired now.
  11. I had to pull up all of the shelf paper under the sink.
  12. What a mess.
  13. We will finish the repair on Thursday afternoon…I hope!

A Flood

My dishwasher broke last week. How did we know? Well the big give away, was the puddle on the floor in the garage below and the leak in the cieling!

The first night, we planned our course of action the next day, we would undo the gazillion screws, carefully putting them aside, and then we would spend about half an hour moving the machine out from under the counter. No small feat when both Hubby and I have problematic knees.

However we did it, and we found pockets of water in the insulation, and before we knew it, the floor was covered. What a mess!

Mops and sponges were brought out and we cleaned up the mini disaster as we went about finding the hole in the hoses.

It did not take long. There it was!

A tiny little slit capable producing big puddles!

We looked through the Owners Manual & Parts book and Hubby got on the phone and ordered the new hose. I think that was on Sunday.

This afternoon the UPS truck pulled up and lo and behold, our new hose arrived from Frigidaire!

Now the challenge begins…installation!

It was a remarkably busy weekend. Mostly I was working in the green house, re-potting plants. I now have 14 large patio containers, with tomatoes, eggplants, and green peppers in them! Wonderful! Another three weeks and I can plant my seedlings into the ground!

I also enjoyed the sunshine! Finally, sunshine, warmer temperatures and the beauty of late spring.

I finally watched “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2”, so I have seen them all. My favorites are the first and the last movie. I love the way the movies portrayed Severus Snape! Especially the last one!

I worked on yet another report and after three hours sent it out to the others. I hope it is okay.

Hubby and I were looking around the family room tonight as watched yet another set of movies (“I Remember Mama” & “Master & Commander”) and as we looked around us we were surrounded by happy, sleepy, pups!

Oh yes, life is good! Thank you Lord!

1. After a while, you realize that it’s just not worth getting upset over most of these silly things and just go with the flow.
2. Give me a hug at least.
3. Well, anyway, I got a new battery in my car and Hubby got a new license. We also had a nice lunch. But it was a long day!.
4. The love of my family and friends means the most to me.
5. I always try to watch over my pups and keep them safe from harm.
6. The wonder of life keeps me going.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to reading my Kindle, tomorrow my plans include going to a plant sale to get my eggplant and Sunday, I want to Oh geeze, after this past week I want to just relax, but I do need to call in for Jury Duty in the evening.!

This past weekend I took care of many of the basics in life. I did laundry, cleaned the bedroom and kitchen, and washed floors. I also cooked all our meals and cleaned them up! I am so domestic!

I also worked grooming the dackels. They all needed to have their winter coats stripped down. I put them up on the counter, one at a time and worked for shot periods on each one. Tonight Anneliese is done, but Greta and Arnie still have a ways to go.

More seeds are sprouting in the green house, so far the fruit trees are hanging in there.

This week, Hubby needs to go and renew his license, and we need to register our cars for another year and get them inspected.

Friday is also Hubby’s birthday, and I need to figure out something fabulous to do for that.

What’s your week looking like?

Driers

On Monday I had a lunch date with a friend, but I also wanted to get some laundry done before I went. So I carried the basket down to the basement, and sorted the clothes. I decided to start with Hubby’s ski parka. It said to use a cold wash, gentle cycle. Fine, but all I can say about that is that the spin cycle isn’t hard enough to wring out much of the water.

I tossed the parka into the drier as I left for my date, and never thought another thing about it…

My lunch date was great.A wonderful salad with goat cheese, candied nuts, and craisins, served with a warm raspberry/balsamic vinaigrette. It was also served with a croissant sandwich of bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. My taste buds are still thanking me!

We talked and talked and talked, and then said good bye. I wanted to drive by the home that burnt down the other day. It’s been really terrible, but we have been having fires almost every day! I think there may be a fire-bug in the area. Certainly all these fires are not coincidental.

It was sad that this old house was burnt down and that four families were displaced.

I arrived home and the drier had stopped. I opened the door to check and it was still wet. I tried to turn on the drier, but it wouldn’t turn on! I checked the circuit breaker, and I thought it was fine, but still no drier.

So I came upstairs to tell Hubby, convinced that we would need a new drier. He went down and showed me I had not closed the breaker correctly and when he did it, the drier worked! He is so talented!!!

(sigh!)

So the day is close to ending and I am thinking I might like a fire in the hearth. A nice way to end the day!

I sort of feel like this past weekend I was catching up with my life. After our vacation, when I was so ill, I did absolutely nothing. This past weekend, I shopped for food, cleaned, and took care of Anneliese.

I also worked in the green house getting seeds started and little tomato plants re-potted. The first part of the weekend it was bright, warm and sunny, but Sunday found the sun gone and misty rain surrounding us.

Hubby and I did our grocery shopping (we do this about every three weeks) and we cannot believe how much food is costing these days. We also had to get gasoline in the car, and well, that sure is depressing! $3.79 a gallon!

We splurged and went out to lunch at a local Chinese buffet! Yay! Great food.

How was your weekend?

Working

Saturday I was happy to find, when I woke up, that all three dackels were magically cured of their sore bottoms! In fact, it seemed they had no recollection of the ordeal, and they were running around like crazy puppies!

After breakfast, I started working on my paper. Four long pages! It took me three hours. I sure wish I could compose quickly, but I really don’t. So I hung in there, and eventually I got it done, and I just hope it makes sense.

I made Hubby nice meals for lunch and dinner, as he has been working outside on our patio. We have cement blocks out there for the decking, and after 12 years we have so many cracked and just totally crushed blocks. You see, in the winter we have snow and ice, and it all freezes. Then we have some warmer temperatures and it thaws and then it freezes again. That is murder on the blocks.

After my paper was done, I splurged and put on several movies. Nothing I really sat down and and watched, but movies that I know and can listen to and not lose my place.

I also participated in a political survey. They claimed it would only take me 15 minutes. An hour later, I was done!

Sunday I have major cleaning to do. So I am thinking I will be putting on some music and getting out my bucket of cleaning supplies! Oh yeah, love, love, cleaning…NOT!

Happy Sunday, and Happy Greek Easter!
