Getting Beautiful

When I was 21 getting beautiful meant that I showered, washed and dried my hair and put on a little lip gloss. My body parts were still where God had intended them to blossom, and my skin was fairly flawless. Because I was running after two little ones I was in good shape and because I tended to take them for long walks and play outside, I had a sun-kissed tan from May until October.

Yes, those were good times.

Now, I must plan on “getting beautiful”. I made the appointment three months ago for the full treatment. In fact they called today to remind me that I was due to be overhauled.

There is, of course, only so much one can do, but I try pretty hard to keep myself up. Of course short of going to Pamela Anderson’s plastic surgeon or going on the people version of Extreme Makeovers, I am sort of stuck with a body that is slowly headed south.

It’s not that I really mind this. It happens to women my age, after all, but when I think of how totally hot I was when I was 21, I feel bad for Hubby. He never got to see me then, or enjoy the wonder of my youth! (LOL)

Okay, I admit it. I wouldn’t mind seeing myself like I was at age 21 just one more time.

Do you think that when you go to Heaven you get to chose your body?

If so, I’m asking for my 21 year old body back!

  1. Lovely post and great picture!!
You definitely were hot when you were 21… but you know what, real beauty comes from the inside and even though you might not be as happy with your body as you used to be, I think it’s great that you try to keep yourself up and you are still very beautiful 🙂

    Ask Hubby. He knows that.

  2. Awww, I think you get more beautiful every day, Maribeth!

But I know what you mean. Back then when I was (sort of) hot I didn’t even realize it. Wahhhh! And now? Wahhhhhhh!

  3. Lovely picture of a beautiful young woman!!!! You might not be as young as in your pic now, but you are a very attractive woman (in her best years!!) gravity gets us all, lol, we just musn’t forget to show our most beautiful smile and grow older with dignity (I must admit I was shocked to discover yet another wrinkle on my eyelid, bwaaaaah!)

    Have a wonderful vacation!!

  4. I agree with San. Real beauty comes form within. Instead of spending money for that kinda stuff you should use it to pay a personal trainer. After all do you rather look young or prefer to feel young and dynamic? (no offense – I do not know how much exercise you get)

  5. You were hot at the age of 21. Now you are hot too, but in another way. One advice, don’t think about it, if you do, you sure will feel old and hence look old.

Wish you a fantastic tour to Panama.

PS. Thanks for nice comments to my first post from Miami Beach

  6. You’re just beautiful in different ways 🙂 I think wrinkles can be so wonderful, showing such a character for the face.

The hanging business is another thing, just something that happens….

I think you’re going to have such a wonderful time cruising the Panama Canal and we’ll keep an eye on you while you are 😀

  7. Would I want to choose a body in heaven, no! Just remove the pain that I suffer in this and it will be fine!

Enjoy your time in the Panama Canal, we are going to New Zealand, so do check back (if you get the time) to see where we are at!

    Take care

  8. Hi sweetie, I just bawled about your Katie…sending you love and peace in missing her…she looked JUST like you! I wanted to tell you to have a wonderful cruise through the Panama Canal! We did that cruise a few years ago, and it was amazing!! This post got me to wondering if maybe you’re fibbing (jk) about the cruise and you’re really going to that plastic surgeon and having a body overhaul??? lol…keep in touch if you can during your trip…have a great time and watch out for the sun down there! It’s extremely dangerous!! sending you love sweetie
