Driveways

There is great excitement here at the Dackel Princess House. We are getting the upper part of our driveway redone. This is quite important as the record breaking winter and heavy rains this spring have left the road in bad shape. Deep ruts, and giant bumps made it extremely dicey for us or our neighbor (whom we share the driveway with) to go up or down. It happened before when Hubby was laid up and I tried to keep things going. Now we’ve hired a firm to come in and put new drainage in and then more dirt and gravel.

I went up to check on Hubby, Fritz and our other neighbor, Frank to make sure they are doing a good job supervising. So far it looks good.

Fritz is especially good at supervising!

After I checked on things, I came back down our driveway, the part that is paved and I noticed what a beautiful day it was, and how nice the house and the lake looked, so I snapped a quick picture.

It will take a few more days for them to finish the job, but then this should last for a few years. They will also resurface the tar and that will be done as well.

Meanwhile, I was busy with laundry, cooking and cleaning today. I got quite a bit done. Matina and James came down and we walked the dogs. Matina and I are talking about starting knitting projects together. I still hope to make the Harry Potter Scarf that I’ve had the yarn for, for a couple of years. Yes, the time may have come for me to start that!

  1. Morning Mom! Hope you are having a good day so far…. Mine has started out a little rough; I’m feeling very self-conscious about my facial swelling, and will call later today to make an appt with the surgeon. I feel very nervous about the whole thing, but know this is the only true solution….

Congrats on losing a pound this week. I lost 1/2 pound, and was happy with that, because I was sure as well that I had stayed the same. I’m 5.5 pounds away from my goal….

Well, enjoy the day today; try to stay cool! 🙂

    Love you lots,
    Mandy

  2. You live on a lake! That is a dream for us. It will be very nice when you get the driveway fixed and the drainage will help keep it in good shape.

Have you ever read “Crazy Aunt Purl” the blog? She has some really fun knitting projects on her blogsite. She is very funny, too. I bought some yarn the other day to start a new scarf, too. Not a Harry Potter one, mind you, but a variegated yarn one. I got interested in knitting again after reading her blog for a while. She has a project she just finished that is a mitten. Apparently the thumb part is tricky. I just do the flat stuff. 🙂

  3. What a work, but it has to be done ! Fortunately it doesn’t rain ! Apparently white animals are good watchers because my white cat Arthur always helps when there are workers in the street and I have to tell them to pay attention when they leave because Arthur likes to climb in cars !

  4. LOL! (I read “before”) I can soooooo relate to all of this! Except for the part about HIRING someone to come FIX it! Hubby will NEVER do that! But… he does have a PLOW he uses to repair our driveway… and I must admit he keeps up with it pretty well. But all it takes is one good gullywasher and our whole driveway and half our front yard is just GOOOOONE! Seeya! Buhbye! I told him we oughta just pave it all! Front yard and driveway! We can’t grow grass and it’s all just one big MUD hole when it rains… 21 years we’ve been playin’ this game! CONGRATULATIONS to YOU – on your new and improved driveway!

  5. hehehe too bad you couldn’t have had Fritz peering at you from the other end of that tube! Yippee for getting that fixed! I was worried the last time going over that with my little low slung car!

  6. Congrats on being a looser. Lovely view of the lake and your house too. I agree Fritz is a good supervisor..he keeps a good eye on things!

  7. With Fritz as a supervising we all know it will hold good in the winter time too 🙂

Wishing you a great end to your week!!
