The New Me!

I was off to my hair stylist’s Tuesday afternoon and when I arrived I sat down in her chair with a frown and showed her this:

Flat hair on the top, wild sides and a style that was nearly impossible for me to do. Add to that the fact that it was making my face look fat and it all ads up to one unhappy lady!

Margarita went to work. I explained that I wanted layers and lots of them, while keeping my length. She cut and measured and cut some more. I glanced at the floor and was amazed at the amount of hair she had trimmed off. Apparently my hair had really gotten quite long and full.

Once she was done with the snipping, she gently fingered my hair while she blew it dry and these small curls formed.

Margarita styled it a bit fancier than I will, but she showed me how to encourage the curls and then to style my hair so that it actually is pulled back away from my face naturally.

I know from previous cuts that having this style will be easy for me. The really funny thing is that when I was a little girl, I had tight blond curls. Then one day in a fit of pique my mother cut them all off. After that my hair never grew back curly. Wavy, yes, but no curls.

Now, as I enter my 50’s I suddenly have found that my curls returned with a vengeance. I suppose I could cut them off again, but let’s face it, I can’t afford another 50 years for them to return!

I’ll be playing with the new style now and seeing what I can do.

What do you think?

PS: I opened the door at the end of the evening to walk Greta and found Fritz doing a frantic dance. The smell that hit me was so overwhelming that I knew he’d been hit by a skunk! While Hubby made an emergency run to the grocery store for tomato juice, I washed Fritz down with brown soap and rinsed him well. All this was done outside in the 54 degree weather!

Hubby returned from the grocery store and we started to wash Fritz with the tomato juice. Sponging it into his fur until he was completely covered. Then we got out the hose and started to rinse him off.

We now own a Pink German Shepherd!

He is now drying off in the basement where he will spend the night. I sure hope we got it all and that tomorrow Fritz will be back to normal. Well, besides the pink hue to his fur, that is!

LOL!!!

  1. That new hairstyle suits you very well ! what a difference ! Poor little Fritz I didn’t know that Tomatoe juice helps agains skunk smell ! I have to say we only have skunks in the Zoo here. A pink dog is very fashionable !

  2. I love the new ‘do, though really the original longer style does NOT make your face look fat in the slightest!!

Also, does tomato juice really get rid of skunk smell?

  3. I think Fritz just wanted a new style too! Maybe you should try pink as well and having matching colors! LOL! Love your hair. Where is that curly hair fairy hiding out? She needs to make a visit to my door! Love YOU, Mel

  4. You have lovely waves!! I have very straight hair (but I mean very!) and always wanted to have curls, or course. Now at age 51 I own a hair iron and I love it, lol!!

Fritz should keep the pink at least until Halloween! yes: where is his picture?

  5. Tomato juice, huh? I had no idea! I think I should get a couple of cans to keep on hand — just in case! We have our share of skunks in the area!

Your HAIR is FABULOUS!!! I love it! I had ringlets as a child – and a fair amount of curl as an adult — but the curl never does what I want it to do! LOL!

  6. I really like your new hairstyle! My hair used to be blonde and curly, too. My curls never came back, but I’m not sure they were totally natural. It seems my grandmother used to roll it every afternoon before my nap. I was a very cute little girl. Not so much afterward. Anyway, the new cut is cute and curly and just so adorable.

Poor Fritz! There is not much of a worse smell than skunk…oi. Hope he smells sweeter today.

  7. Don’t you dare cut those curls!! Lucky you who has them naturally, the rest of us have to perm and heat and roll and whatever we can do to get a little life in our hair!! You look marvellous!

  8. Honest answer??? For some reason the first thing that jumped into my mind was “Prom Date,” and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Very cute.

  9. OH, such a great hairstyle! It really suits you. I love that curls! Though you just reminded me that I ought to go to the hairdresser too. No new hairstyle though, just cutting a bit off.
