Tis the season of slush!
Sunday night we had the prettiest snowfall. Slow, sinking, lacy flakes of brilliant white. Ah, how seasonally beautiful it looked as I sat listening to the first Christmas Carols played in my home.
I let the dogs go out and they ran hither and yon trying to capture a luscious flake of snow in their mouths. The day was truly quite lovely.
Darkness fell and I stopped thinking too much about the pretty snow, and went to bed, where visions of sugar plums danced in my head.
By Monday morning when I woke up with four healthy, active dogs, in need of walking, the temperature had gone up and the pretty snow was now wet, sloppy and slushy. In less than 5 minutes my nice warm, dry feet were soaked and cold.
Oh yeah. Winter. I remember this!
I didn’t let this get me down. I had shopping to do and mail to pick up, so I dried my feet, put on warm socks and shoes and out I went.
Well, you know what I found? Since the snow wasn’t that deep they had not plowed the roads or shoveled the walkways and so……yep, I got my feet wet again.
Note to self: Get a pair of good winter waterproof boots!
Hubby pushed the slush off our drive so that our 500 foot driveway (which goes downhill to our house) is clear of this stuff and we can pass up and down the drive without sliding off! (Which I have done before!)
Yes, slush and snow and cold and wet feet and icy noses.
All part of the jolliest time of the year!
Even I have a pair of Wellies here in Texas 🙂 It would be a good investment for you. I envy your snow. Ours only comes once a year and that is a mabye. Enjoy the season it is a beautiful time of the year.
Ah, I would love to have some snow over here.
We had snow two weekends ago and there was still a bit of it left the last days but yesterday we had rain and the snow is gone.
Ooo snow! I can’t even imagine being in that stuff 😉
Ahh-I remember it well. Enough so that I can wait awhile longer to again experience it. 32 years and counting. Carol
Sunday Morning we had snow, it was so pretty, but a bit slppery. It was soon gone and yesterday was sunny and warm. Love YOU, Mel
We only had a little snow in MA, which didn’t really end up sticking at all! I do love the first snow fall though–always so pretty!
I have a 1/2 day at work. Headed out to finish up stuff in Wilton, then have a hair appt tonight.
Hope you have a great day!
Love,
Mandy
LOL! Ya know… just for a minute – looking at the pictures of you on the slopes – I thought oh how pretty, snow’s not so bad – but now you’ve reminded me why I DON’T and won’t live in NH!!! LOL! Now… send me to Florida! I wanna be a snow-bird!
Agree,
this is a very special time of year for us that are lucky enough to experience all the 4 seasons.
The First Snowfall – so silent and scarce and enlightning
Then we have some weeks when Mother Nature struggle back and forth: Winter – No Winter – Winter – No Winter etc
Like: Love – not Love – Love – not Love
We have some cm of snow here in Oslo as well. It’s wet, but it’s white on the ground.
Monday I went to our Summerhome. To check the el-consumption meter and register. It was frost and some snow. And very, very slippy and dangerous for a person my age. Luckely I did not fall, but was about to several times. When going down.
Maybe you should park the car at the beginning and ride some sleds downhills instead…? *giggles*
