12 Plus

The weather man says we got 16 inches, but Hubby swears it’s no more than 12. Walking around today I think perhaps the weather man is a little closer.

As you can see we have a good three feet of snow sitting in the back yard. Some of it is from the previous storms, but most of it is from yesterday.

I did finally get Anneliese to pose for me. She’s the cooperative one. You can see how petite she looks next to the snow banks.

Now here are a few pictures of Hubby as he cleared the path for the dackels. I was shocked to see my picnic table. Now that’s all from this past storm!

Hubby works hard, but he tells me that it’s good exercise for him. I bet he will be tired tonight.

This was a small avalanche in front of the green house. Hubby got through it and now the dackels can get to their special place!

I love this one of Hubby, with my neighbor’s house in the background. Yes, that’s a lot of snow.

I went up to go skiing today, but I must confess that the snow was too much for me. I am an average skier, but I like the conditions to be packed and firm. Today was a powder lovers dream and my personal nightmare.

I kept falling and I got more and more afraid, until I just skied to the bottom, took off my skies and said to hell with it! Hubby wasn’t happy with me, but I have to say, when you feel like I did and you are a simple skier, you are much safer in the lodge!

I came home and took a long hot bath and tried to unwind. I don’t think I am calm yet. There is something terribly scary for me when I fall and end up buried in snow that is as deep as my arm.

I’m trying a new Weight Watchers recipe for Scalloped Potatoes. It smells heavenly. Wouldn’t that be a nice way to end the day, with a nice steak, asparagus and scalloped potatoes?

  1. I’ll tell you what, since we are having a heat wave (45 in Melbourne & Adelaide and 38 here in Sydney, the AC worked well today (eventhough I was in the roof doing some additions to the insulation or out at the car fitting a Bluetooth car kit), and the evening spa went down real WELL!!!

Don’t work hubby too hard, and did he have a hot cuppa when he finished??? 😉

  2. Hi Mom,

I liked the picture of hubby clearing the avalanche best! Yes, lots of snow. We got a good amount down here too, but what was rough was that yesterday I had a business trip to Philadelphia. My plane was leaving Manchester at 6am, so I had to leave my house at 4:30. At first, I was behind salt trucks, but soon enough I was ahead of them and sort of “trail-blazing” through the ice…. It was a bit of a scary ride. I also was running on very little sleep, so although my visit at the hospital went well, it certainly took its toll on me.

Hope you have a great day. I’m so relieved it’s Friday!

    Love you,

    Mandy

  3. That is just a LOT of bloomin’ snow! I don’t think we’ve had one like that in 16 years! That is a HUGE snow blower you have! No wonder YOU have problems with it! But I can also see that you NEED one like that! Crazy… just crazy!

  4. I am really glad to see your hubby is so well recovered. Wish mine was. Guess who had to shovel us out of our snowstorm?? Well the kids helped a bit. I do hope you won’t be having a picnic for a while, because if you do you will have to snowblow your table!

  5. OMG Maribeth! That makes me sick! all that snow lol…I have about 2 1/2 feet on the ground and we are getting slammed with more tonight! The amount of snow on that picnic table made me shudder! lol…and you say you have too many dogs, made me smile…what with you going and getting your Annelise preggers soon! lol…One of these days, I think I may have to come and vist you…like when the snow is gone!. I cant believe your hubby is feeling well enough to tackle all that snow…I am so happy for you both! Sending warm hugs and love dear friend…

  6. Wow! You’ve got soooo much snow! Look at that table. *whistles*

Normally I don’t like winter and snow, but at least you seem to have SUN and a blue sky too, I’d love to have that!

We haven’t seen the sun for ages. It’s supposed to be daylight 8 hours a day now, but it’s pretty dark anyway. It’s VERY tiring. *sigh*

  7. Even though I know that all that snow must really suck, especially having to plow through it, but it is just so so so pretty! We’re suffering through heatwaves over here – totally wish it was snowing instead!
