The Weekend

I’m slowly getting caught up on my time zones, although I admit to another afternoon nap on Sunday.

I never have a problem going east when I travel, but returning and going west just wipes me out! Perhaps I am just getting old! LOL!

Anneliese is showing the first signs that tell me that it is very possible she is pregnant. The usual canine heat lasts a full 3 weeks. When a dog successfully mates they begin to have a slowing of the heat a few days early. This is happening with Anneliese.

Since this will be my B litter I must start considering good German names that begin with the letter B. Anyone with a name can put it in the comments and we will announce the winners at a later date.

As far as I can guess the pups will arrive April 24-29th. Or there abouts. Not long at all. It will be fun to watch Anneliese’s little belly get big and full of babies. I remember watching Greta and enjoying every minute of her pregnancy!

My Dad is continuing his slow decline. I think the worst part is that he is suffering. I hate to think about it.

Monday is Veterinarian Day for the Dackels. They all need their shots for the year and I am sure, all will be well.

Have a great week!!!

  1. Good to hear you’re slowly getting over your jetlag! It always takes me a couple of days, too.

  5. Lots of good names, I’m bad with names so I’ll just read the ones you get. Hope your dad has peace. We all loved our old music teacher;)

  6. I’ll look up some names for you and get back to you with those. Today might be a good day since it is snowing and mostly I’ll be in till later when I try to visit Dad. Love YOU, Mel

  7. I couldn’t even begin to guess a German name, much less one beginning with B! LOL! I had no idea that litters went alphabetically though… learn somethin’ new every day! I also learned it doesn’t take long to grow a dackel! WOW! This is going to be fun! Will the vet do a pregnancy test today?

  8. Hi Mom,

Another snowy day! How much did you end up with? We have over a foot here, and still snowing! This was one of the few storms where MA was at least predicted to get more snow than NH…

So, there are a few suggestions for you. I have starred my favorites:
    Blümchen (f., little flower)**
    Baldo
    Brahms
    Biene (bee, pron. BEE-nuh)**

    Love you lots,

    Mandy

  11. Jet lag always bothers me MORE coming back from Europe. Or is it just the let-down?
How great that you think already that she’s pregnant! And wow….not very long at all till pups!
How many do you think she’ll have? And are they all spoken for?

  12. Well here is the most popular first name in Norway the last 10 years. Maybe you could find a match with a German name too:

BALDER, BASTIAN, BEN, BENDIK, BENJAMIN, BERNHARD, BERNT, BILAL, BIRGER, BIRK, BJARNE

  13. Yes, jet lag is worse for me going to the US too, even when I lived there. You have my deepest sympathy hehehe. Sorry I haven’t been in much, seems my elbow is a little broken. I do hope after your trip that your little lady is expecting, and here are my suggestions to your list…already named but good anyway.

Bernhard for a boy- means bear
Bardulf for a boy – means bright wolf
Beate for a girl – means happy or blessed
Belinda for a girl, means possibly…bright serpent, but pretty.

Makes me almost wish i was having babies!!!

  14. Well, the above was of course boy’s name and here are the most popular in the last 10 years for girls:

BEATE, BEATRICE, BENEDICTE, BENEDIKTE, BENTE, BERIT, BERTINE, BETINA, BETTINA, BIANCA, BIRGITTE
