Springtime Colds

I woke on Monday morning with Hubby’s cold. He claims it is not his cold that I have gotten, but I know better. It’s his, I can tell!

I decided that the best course of action was no action at all. Rest, warm fluffy blankets to keep me comfortable during my feverish chills, a dackel or two sitting next to me and vast amounts of herbal tea with honey to soothe my tender throat.

That and I watched a marathon of a show I had never seen before. It’s called Amazing Wedding Cakes and it is fascinating. I watched them spin sugar to make chandelier like decorations to go on a cake, another cake was of (cake) shoe boxes and (edible) stilletos and a (cake) purse for a woman’s bridal shower, and lastly a wedding cake for a couple who are crazy for silent movies. These people are really amazingly crafty!

Listen, when you are sick you do not want to watch anything too serious on TV because it’ll just make you cry. I was talking to my sister on the phone this morning and I started crying just talking to her! Yeah, I cry when I have a cold pretty easily. Add to that this silly thing called menopause and it’s no wonder I have purchased stock in the Kleenex Corporation!

I have decided that this cold will not last longer than a couple of days. I have far too many things going on to be down and out again with a yucky cold!

  1. Poor you ! That’s typical, as soon as Mr. G. has a cold and I only look at his nose I get it too !
BTW I too made Chili yesterday a big pot and it made 6 portions !

  2. I think Grampa Jack here in Ct. has it too. He sounded horse last night when we were over there. I bet he’s worse this morning. I just hope Nan doesn’t get it or Mom!
Sending healing thoughts your way and much LOVE! Wish I could stop by and make you some tea and bring over a nice casserole for your dinner. Love YOU, Mel

  3. Enough about wedding cakes already! With Barb’s daughter Diana getting married this summer I have heard more than one human being should ever hear about weddings, and its still 4 months away, and they claim it is a small simple wedding. I remember the words on one Mrs. Rockefeller to her son: Remember, X, this is a wedding, not a coronation!” Amen!

  4. Sorry to hear you’re sick too. Hopefully you’ll be back on your feet again soon.

My parents arrived safely this morning. Mom’s a bit worse for wear, but happy to be here with her grandchildren (and us too of course). Hopefully a solid night’s sleep in a real bed will help too.

  5. THAT’s the spirit! This cold will NOT last long because I SAID so, that’s why!!! I LOVE it!

My Krysti would give up EMT/Paramedic-ship plus 10 other jobs if she could get a job decorating those cakes! She watches alllllllllllllll those cake shows and just WANTS to DO that soooooooo badly! LOL! I keep telling her — make some stuff and take it and show it around — or take pictures of it… ya gotta start a portfolio! But you know kids — they just wanna be HIRED! On their WORD! LOL!

I hope you feel better VERY soon!
