Numbers

I was watching Kathie Lee and Hoda

this morning and they were talking about age. You know, if you are honest about your age, or your weight and the numbers that define us.

You all know that in November I will be turning 52 years old. I’ve never been uncomfortable talking about my age. In fact, I’m quite proud that I even survived my twenties, so arriving in my 50’s two years ago, felt good. I feel young inside my head, even if various parts of my body are now heading south, or totally rusting up and falling off.

They asked people on the street how old they were and I was amazed at how many people  didn’t want to answer. Am I the only person on the face of the earth that feels pride at being their age? Do you tell the truth about your age, fudge the numbers or simply not answer?

Now weight is a totally different thing. I shall be 129 pounds until the day I die. No matter the hour, day or year.

(And the fact that I haven’t weighed 129 pounds since I was 26 years old won’t stop me either!  Just look at my drivers license! 129 pounds!)

Of course, back in my head again, I am 129 pounds, and my body resembles the firm and toned body I had when I was 16 and doing gymnastics! Even my 28 year old body wasn’t too bad, although not quite as good.

I’d just like to think that when I do die and hopefully go to Heaven that slim and perky body will be restored.

One can hope…

  1. Oh Yeah!! I want my young body back when I die too! I’d take it now, but later would be good too!! Love YOU, Mel

  2. I, too, have no problem with age. Far too many are not blessed with the opportunity to achieve longevity. Those of us who have that opportunity should celebrate. So, MB, celebrate my impending 65th birthday with me and I will celebrate with you

  3. Hey I am also proud of my 67 yrs. and all the wrinkles that go with it! No botox for me. Each wrinkle and grey hair has been earned. lol

  4. LOL! I am VERY proud to be 53 and tell EVERYONE so! I tell the younger folks to look FORWARD to 50 because life after 50 is BETTER THAN EVER!!!

Weight? Eh! For a million years my drivers license said 145. ANYONE with a lick of sense could tell I was FAR above that number! I finally gave in and put my true weight a few years ago… ya know… it IS what it IS!

  5. I never had a problem with telling my age ! I made me older in the past so that everybody said, oh geez you look young for your age, lol ! Now I am 67 and feel great, I am happy to be in good health, and have time (and money) to enjoy life ! I think numbers don’t count, it’s in your head because I know girls of 20 and they have a mentality of a 100 year old, lol !

  6. Soon I will turn to my 60th birthday… I never have problems to tell other people the truth about my age. I feel inside like a young woman and it doesn´t matter to me what other people think or say. I am doing well and I live my life like I want…. I think if you feel good then the expression on your face shows other people how young you are 🙂
    Love Uschi

  7. I proudly have the number plates AW 1966! hubby gave me for my 40th…..and I too see myself as 125 pounds and 18 in age! Just feel 101yrs some days! too funny!
