Friday morning found me waking at 3:58 AM! I was so excited about the Royal Wedding, and had set the TV up to tape the events the night before, but I just HAD TO get up and watch it in person! I’ve always loved those boys since they were born. I suppose it was because they were very much wanted, and their parents both doted on them. And of course Princess Diana died before she ever got to see her boys grow into fine young men.
I’m also enough of a romantic that I love to see and hear all about the love stories and feel like I am a part of things as well.
So, here I was, up early, with Fritz and Anneliese, making myself a cup of tea and watching the BBC Broadcast of the wedding. I had a box of Kleenex close by, and as I watched I cried like the mother of the bride or groom. Oh silly me!
The Bride was beautiful, in a classic Grace Kelly kind of way,
and Prince William looked at his Bride with such love, why I really think these two are a love match. I simply refuse to believe that this is anything but a love match!
I had baked blueberry scones, and made “faux” clotted cream and had homemade strawberry jelly. I cooked up a couple of eggs to go along, once Hubby got up. There was also plenty of tea! Hubby actually slept in and missed the wedding the “first” time. You see all day long they kept replaying it and so he saw it a time or two then.
By 2 PM I started to feel sleepy, as if it were the middle of the night and I should be in bed! I did not lie down though because I knew if I did I wouldn’t sleep tonight. I’ll simply get to bed at a decent time tonight.
Did you watch the wedding? What was your favorite part? Did you shed a little tear? (Or am I going through menopause and hormonally unbalanced?)
My girlfriends and I gathered to watch the live telecast of the royal wedding. It was so beautiful and touching. Some of us cried.
I love the moment when their carriage drove through the hundreds and thousands of spectators lining the route to Buckingham Palace. The carriage was such a beauty. This wedding is like a fairy tale to me. ๐
Of course I did, for me it was only one hour difference. Portugal and the UK are one hour earler then the rest of Europe. I took some pictures from the screen (on Writer Cramps) I didn’t cry I found it such a cheerful wedding ! What I also loved was that he in the evening drove himself with her in a decorated car “just married” for the evening receception. Just like a normal couple. I hope Diana could see them !
I woke up at the exact same time you did!!! LOL! I did get emotional too, but I am in the same boat hormones wise or it could be our sister connection too! I loved the whole thing! I think my favorite part was the “kiss” on the balcony! But I loved seeing all the crazy hats! And when we finally got to see the dress that was a beautiful moment! Love YOU, Mel
What I was thinking of, was “Too bad Diana was not there to see her boy get married”. I watched bits of it at work, and watched it later on TVยดs reruns too.
Are we going to see pictures of your “Tea”?? As for the wedding – what I loved was the carriage ride after the ceremony….something out of “Cinderella”…and the fly-overs while they were on the balcony at Buckingham. Great romatic stuff, all of it! :-)s
I was up and watching. Loved every minute of it. I watched the BBC also, I thought it would be the best coverage. I am still watching highlight shows, I can’t get enough. I have many books on Diana and a large collection of magazines that she was in over the years.
I truly cared for her and related to her. I miss her. Have always loved her boys and was so proud of how she raised them. I think I was too exhausted to cry. I do believe that William and Catherine are truly in love and will live happily ever after.
Watched some of the re-runs. Pleased to see the quiet elegance of her dress and the obvious love between them. Really hoping for a wonderful, love filled life and home for the two young people.
I watched the entire ceremony and loved it!! I love weddings anyways, and this one was even written on my calendar since I couldn’t possibly leave the house that morning in order to watch, I had everything done the day before ๐
Oh, how I wish I could have joined you for scones and tea and the Royal Wedding. I couldn’t stay up because I had so much work to do in preparation for our move, but I did DVR the wedding and watched parts of it later! ๐
