Happy Birthday, Savannah

Tomorrow my darling granddaughter, Savannah Rose turns three years old! Wow! That sure went fast. She is such a delight and makes every one of my days special just by being the wonderful little girl that she is. How lucky we all are to have Savannah in our world!

Today we are having her Birthday Party! I think that May is the perfect month for a birthday. Warm, sunny and with flowers blooming. Beautiful. Just like Savi!

A Crazy Thursday

Thursday was a crazy day. I got an email from Walmart announcing that they could not deliver Savannah’s birthday gift today because of an out of their control delay! What!!!

Since we really needed to start planting the garden, we directly planted the seeds for the peas and beans and beets. We’d hoped to do more today, but it was so crazy hot, and we knew we had to be off to the big city!

I cancelled the order for Savi’s gift with Walmart, and then Hubby and I took a road trip. We stopped at a Chinese Buffet, and he ate normally and I, bringing my Weight Watchers books with me, planned what I would eat. I had Hot & Sour Soup, millions of steamed vegetables, vegetable egg foo yung, with no gravy (not a big gravy fan anyway), and then some melon. Oh yes, and I drank two tall grasses of water and 6 cups of green tea! (My teeth are still floating!)

We stopped for gasoline at Sam’s Club, and also found some great lamb chops, chickens, and ground beef. Since I try to always plan ahead, I had a cooler and ice packs with me. It was so necessary as we had another 90+ degree day.

We stopped briefly at one other store, before heading back home. Hubby wanted leftovers for his dinner, but I made some salmon, boiled potatoes and beets for my dinner.

I sure am tired tonight, and I know tomorrow I must get the rest of the garden planted.  After that, I need to go out and buy all the fresh vegetables to make an awesome salad for Savannah’s Birthday Party!

I cannot believe she will be 3 years old this weekend!

Music & Dancing

On Saturday I went to watch Savannah at her music lesson. It is so much fun to see parents and children sitting around, singing children’s songs, and the older kids, like Savannah, who have been coming for a while, get right up there and dance.

Savannah has a dress she loves, as she can twirl around and the skirt looks so pretty. Sadly, she is outgrowing it. We’ll have to look for another, or something close for her.

As I watched, my heart filled up with love and happiness. I look at my daughter, Mandy and Savannah and realize over and over, how truly blessed I am.

Mother’s Day Recap

Today was such a wonderful Mother’s Day. We drove down to Mandy and Matt’s house, and Matt’s parents, Mandy’s grandmother, Grammie Alice, my former husband, Bob and Jack and I all celebrated.
All day long Bob and I played with our granddaughter. We played dress up, and wiffle ball, we dug in the dirt, watched ants outside and we chased after her. At one point Bob asked Savi if she wanted to play a game with him and grandma and Savi got all in a huff! She said, “No Bob, her name is Oma!” We both threw our heads back and laughed.

What a lovely day it was. Mandy and Matt worked so hard to make it a very special Mother’s Day!

The Royal Baby Girl

I woke this morning to the news that Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, have safely delivered a healthy baby girl! How wonderful for them and for England.

From the moment that it was announced that Kate was expecting, I just knew that it was a girl. Now we must wait to learn her name. I hope that they give her a beautiful, original name.

Looking back, I recall how wonderful it was when I gave birth to my daughter, Amanda. Back then we did not know before hand what the baby would be, but I had a good idea it was a girl. Call me clairvoyant, but I was just certain.

Then she came flying out, after just 8 hours of labor, and when they laid her on my abdomen and I saw her face, I felt like I had known her all my life and that I had loved her for all eternity.

I guess the thing is, for me, as soon as I knew I was pregnant, I loved that little baby growing inside me. And seeing her and holding her, cemented those feeling for a lifetime.

Now my daughter, has her daughter, Savannah, and the love that I have for my granddaughter is so deep. I never knew it could be like this! As Savannah grows and becomes her own little person, I find I am totally filled with love.

Savannah Growing

There are times in my life, that I can think back to and the memory brings me a world of joy! Certaily the birth of my children, Mandy and Katie are at the top of my list.

I have to say that the birth of Mandy was probably more amazing and special than she knows. My mother, grandmother, and my ex-husband’s mother were all right outside the delivery room. My ex inside with me.

It was quite amazing that when Mandy took her first cry these three women heard it. Most especially, my Grandma Honey.

I remember a feeling, like no one had ever done this before. And it is amazing to me, how you fall, instantly and completly in love!

Isn’t it something when two people get together and make such a beautiful baby! I felt so blessed!

She was born five days before Christmas, at 9:15 in the morning. She weighed 8lbs and 13 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Such a miracle!

Then years later, Mandy presented me with a perfect little granddaughter, Savannah Rose.

My Weekend

It was a great weekend all around! Savannah turned two years old, the party was great, and watching Savi enjoy her day was really wonderful.

The theme was “Frozen” and the movie played in the background throughout the party. There were two poster boards of the Frozen sisters Else and Anna. And a balloon of Olaf.

I love that movie and if you haven’t seen it, get your favorite little person and sit down and watch it together with them. What a fun movie!

Of course there was really great pizza with (beer for the adults), soda and cupcakes and dixi cups filled with ice cream!

Oh yeah, a great way to end the party!

Sunday, I tried to get my garden planted, but the dogs are making it tough. Especially the puppy. They all want to be with me!

Savannah

Easter went well. The turkey was moist and yummy, but I sort of failed at the mashed potatoes. I’m not sure why, I made them the usual way, but they were runny more than creamy.

I always love to get together with my cousin, Janet and her husband Dave. In fact I have adopted Dave too, and he is now a first class, full fledged, cousin!

Dave helped Hubby put in the air conditioners, just in the nick of time! Our temperatures are rising during the days and the house holds the heat at night. Thus I have my air conditioner in our bedroom on right now to cool the room down!

This week I will continue on with my therapy, but I am happy to report that my hand is doing much better. I’m doing so well, in fact, I think I will soon be out of my splints.

I also would like to get out with my friend, Laurie. It’s time for me to start Savannah shopping! She will be 2 at the end of May.

The last two years have gone by so fast! I sure love being an Oma!

Savannah At Music Class

I spent the day on Saturday with Mandy, Matt, and Savannah. Savi had a music class and she just loves it. I also enjoyed watching it. Savi loves music, loves to dance and loves to sing. She is only a little shy, but once the music starts she begins to move!

April 05 14 010

What can I say? I am over the moon in love with my little granddaughter!

April 05 14 022

She has a beautiful smile and laugh. My heart fills when I see her having fun!

I loved this shot of Savi as she kept doing her split!

Happy Savannah!

And after her music class, and a little shopping and lunch, my little cherub fell asleep on the sofa. After about about an hour, she moved and curled up in my lap. A grandmother’s dream!
