Meeting Mitt & Ann Romney

Early on Monday morning (Labor Day) Hubby and I joined our neighbors, Jim and Laura and we drove to a nearby restaurant where Mitt and Ann Romney were meeting people. The restaurant also has a wonderful breakfast menu, so we arrived early enough to have omelets and home fries and toast before the guests of honor arrived.

One of the really great things about living in New Hampshire is that we can go and meet the candidates. We have the first Primary in the country and so the candidates really make an effort to come here and meet people.

We were not disappointed. Mitt and his lovely wife Ann arrived just as we finished the last bites of our breakfast and suddenly the room was alive. People stood and applauded and they moved through the crowd speaking to each person and shaking their hand.

They got to us and Laura snapped this picture. Hubby was telling Mitt about how he had met Henry Cabot Lodge when he was running for President back in the 1960’s and that he hoped Mitt did better than Henry had. Mitt smiled and said that he hoped so too! I was telling Ann that I had heard her speak recently about family values and that I greatly admired her.

Hubby, me (bad picture) our friend Jim, Mitt and Ann.

They are such a devoted couple, which is nice to see. As I watched them, their care for each other was evident, but never forced. I came away feeling as if I had met some truly nice people.

I have never said anything political on Dackel Princess and I won’t now, except to tell you that I am a registered Independent voter. I am hoping that at this next Presidential election people will look at the moral character of the people running for this office, as well as their ability to handle our country in this complex world.

  1. Hi there Dakel…

Firstly, thank you for your visits, and especially thank you for your kind words just now… I/we do really appreciate it to know that so many people can care for people, people they do not even know! I find this truely amazing and inspirational…

We are having a long weekend this coming weekend, and we are having a visitor from your ‘neck of the woods’ GWB. As it stands now, at 9.15pm Tue evening, he is due to arrive at 10pm and the city of Sydney is in lockdown mode…

I am glad that you had a great meeting, and how good was the omlette??

    Cheers for now

    Bernie

  2. Howdy. I’ve always thought having the first (or one of the first) primaries would be a fun experience – having all those ‘big shots’ around. But if you are registered as an Independent, do you get to vote in a primary??

  3. Very sympathic couple ! I hope for all my american friends that the next president choice will be better ! This one is the biggest catastrophe I can remember since I read newspapers, lol !

  4. Jim looks like he wants to eat Mrs. Romney.

Romney raised taxes in MA (hmmm… already known as Taxachusetts), drastically cut state funding for higher education, and opposed same-sex marriage and civil unions while supporting domestic partnerships for same-sex couple.

Neither Romney nor his five sons have served in the military. He said: “…one of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping to get me elected.”

This man for president? No way!!!

  5. For me as a Swede, this is so far away, so I won’t comment much about that. I never write anything political on my blog either, mostly because there already are soooo many blogs doing only that.

I think it’s very difficult to find any honest, hardworking, “normal” politicians in any country. Even if they are great in the beginning, they seem to be destroyed by the environment, the power or whatever.

I’m sooo tired of stupid decisions AGAINST the people, even if I’m living in a country as Sweden…

    ‘Nuff said…. *giggles*

  6. What a nice meeting and thanks for sharing with us. Always good to meet people like that and experience they are nice and good like the rest of us.

I do agree with your non political but very good point of view!
