When I was four years old I tried out for a part in the community production of “The King and I”. Much to everyone’s surprise I was given a part. That of the King’s youngest child, the one that slides in at the last second near his feet going the wrong way. The King lovingly picks up the bowing child and turns her around and places her in line with all the others. I sang, and I got all made up with thick pancake make-up and hair color spray to make me look like a Siamese child. I can still recall showering after and watching all that brown make-up wash down the drain.
But my best memories are of all the singing we did with the woman who played Anna. Her name was Fuzzy and she loved all of us kids, or at least we thought she did, and it made every performance that much more fun.
The second is at the end of the performance. I am the first child in the first row, on the right, looking at the King and Anna. Even though I was only four I remember so much of this first performance in my community theater.
I was eliza in my school’s production of the king and I 🙂 It was wonderful fun!
Hi sweetie…first let me thank you for your notes of condolences this past 2 weeks…I so appreciated them…I can’t beleive you have this awesome photo (the black and white) from the play when you played that part at 4 yrs old! I loved your take on this weeks theme, and thanks again for being so loyal to me these last few months! (probably close to a year now)…I love you dear friend!
This is such a wonderful post. I love that you have that memory and I am stunned you have the photos! Fuzzy has such a light about her, it’s a stunning photo, but especially so because of the story behind it.
I have one favorite memory from when I was 4, it is strange how some incident or memory can be so clear years later…when I forget where I put my glasses half of the time! LOL
how great! those memories are something and you did something really great there!
Oh, that is an original, beautiful take on the theme! It’s different if you experience it. It must have been a great one for you! 🙂
Beautiful take on the theme! lovely memories…happy saturday!
You are lucky to have both photos and great memories from this event years ago. Thanks for sharing the wonderful moments of your life.
