1. Lake Superior University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think should be banished from the Queen’s English in 2012-
amazing, baby bump, shared sacrifice, occupy, blowback, man cave, the new normal, pet parent, win the future, trickeration, ginormous, and thank you in advance.
Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why?
shared sacrifice, occupy, blowback, trickeration
Okay, shared sacrifice, well it’s not definitive enough. Occupy has been used and abused by many people this year in very negative ways. Blowback and trickeration, I have never heard of, so I will add them for the heck of it!
2. Are you easily embarrassed?
I don’t think so, but you would have to ask Hubby. Usually, I just go with the flow and laugh things off.
3. What is your go-to snack?
Lately, fruit, like oranges, or bananas, I also like carrots and celery. In a previous life, it was always cookies or chocolate.
4. Have you ever been to Washington D.C.? If not do you have any desire to go? What site/attraction would you most want to see in that city? If you have been, what’s your favorite site/attraction?
Yes, I have been, several times. I loved it! There is so much to see. I LOVE the National Gallery, as I am an art fan, but I also love the new Air and Space Museum. I tell everyone I know. Go. Spend a few days. Walk around the Mall area, visit all the Monuments. Go to the Museums. Explore!
5. sit ups-planks-lunges-squats…which do you hate the least?
Probably squats. But to me exercise is a four letter word! I really do not like formal exercise. I do like to walk, or swim, but squatting and lunging, yuck!
6. What’s a small act of kindness you were shown that you’ve never forgotten?
The two paramedics who took care of Katie and me immediately after the accident, while we were still trapped in the car. One took care of me, the other took care of Katie. I remember Dave (who took care of me) apologized for having to cut off my clothes in the ambulance. I could have cared less. After it was all over we had lunch together and I was able to thank them properly. But really, how do you ever thank people like that who worked so hard to save our lives?
7. Have you ever been a blood donor?
Yes, and then I passed out. It turns out I am not a good candidate for donation as I am slightly anemic.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Tuesday was the Primary Election here in New Hampshire. I cannot recall there being such publicity up here in little old New Hampshire before! Horrible. Add to that phone calls, day and night! Well, now Mitt Romney has won and the press and campaign staffs will leave us alone until the general election! One note here. We did not receive one call from the Romney campaign. But then, Hubby and I had heard him speak, and really didn’t need to do a meet and greet with him and his wife.
Morning! I am up early and checking in. Another clear day here. Off for a shower now.
Thinking of the paramedics who worked so hard that day and thankful for all they did and do each and everyday!
Love YOU, Mel
We´ve been following the election on Fox News and I´m always amazed (there´s that word again) at how complicated your elections are. Hope you get through them ok. 🙂
I think people who work as paramedics have a special sort of kindness.
I don’t know this Romney the only thing which we heard today here on TV is that his campaign has cost 20 million $ !! If he needs such an amount of money to be elected, I doubt very much about his capacities !
I can’t wait until the whole election is over. We live in the greatest nation on earth, but I am horribly disappointed the political garbage going on. God help us is all I can say.
What a touching random act you wrote about. This is the first time I’m over to your blog, so I don’t know any details about your accident, hope things are well with you.
Enjoyed reading your answers.
Don’t you wish they would use that campaign money and put it towards more important things.
