Monday was the turning point for me. Not that I jumped up and ate an entire pancake breakfast with a side of eggs and bacon, no that will have to wait for another day, but I was able to stand up, when I woke, and have scrambled egg and toast for breakfast! Yay!
I ate, what would be considered a normal serving and then sipped ginger ale through out the morning. At lunch I was able to eat our own apple sauce, and crackers, but then I felt really full so I put off eating the yogurt until later.
By the way, I’ve discovered the Greek yogurt, Oikos.
I think that’s the name of it! Oh, I love it! I read the package and since it has natural cultures I thought it would be a good addition to the diet.
Anyone have any other things I can eat, as I reintroduce food to my stomach? Tonight I am trying a plain baked potato and some butternut squash.
It’s this being so weak that is making me crazy. I try to do some things and then I have to rest. Can you imagine that? 53 and I get too tired and need to rest! Crazy!
Now it’s time to just keep on doing what I can to, which is slowly eat and rest and work myself back into shape!
Oh yes, my pal from Weight Watchers called to check on me and she mentioned that I will probably have lost a lot of weight. “Nah” I said. “With my luck, I will have gained 3 pounds!”
yeh! glad you’re feeling better!! I’m trying to remember what I had to reintroduce food to myself after gallbladder surgery a few years ago – but I’m thinking much of what you’re eating too: scrambled eggs, toast, applesauce, maybe banana (if you’re going w/ that BRAT theme), mashed potatoes (plain), crackers …
Take it easy – it’s ok – no doubt you’ll be feeling like running with the dackels very soon!!
Conny is right – BRAT is the way to start. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast – gradually introduce other soft foods like scrambled eggs to see which agrees with you. I understand the fatigue – had C diff which leaves one feeling totally washed out and devoid of energy, Remember, as you introduce solids, continue with plenty of fluids. Just rest, try to feel well again, my friend. Gradually you will return to normal – do not try to do too much too soon: please listen to your body.
I was going to suggest Bananas, rice and all that plus then you can go with some lean chicken breast! Glad you are making progress! Hooray! Love YOU, Mel
Glad you’re feeling better! That makes me very happy 🙂
Glad to hear that you are feeling better and start to eat again. I would think that butternut is a little to heavy and greasy, rice or noodles are light, with a little cheese and light butter. Not too many eggs ! It’s not only your stomac that is affected but probably your liver too. So careful with grease !

Urgh I am right there with you on this – after 4 weeks witht his back outage I am just starting to get back to life again. It is a slow process to rebuild strength! Hang in there
