Our Visit

Today, after another drive through torrential downpours, we arrived to see my Mom at Hospice. My cousin, Janet was with me and thankfully she did the driving for me. Even with her at the wheel, we had to drive 50-55 miles an hour as the rain was so heavy and ponded in the road!

Mom was thrilled to see us, and delighted with the slide show of her past.

But I noticed early on, as did my cousin, that the spark is out of my mother’s eyes. She is merely waiting for the good Lord to take her home.

Since she has entered Hospice, we expect that she will not be with us too  many more weeks. If that.

Around three o’clock, Janet and I left to go and check in at the hotel. Little did my mother know that we were also meeting up with Savannah and Mandy!

Imagine her delight when they walked in and my mother saw them!

Savannah was her usual wonderful, charming self and she entertained us all. What a little darling!

Mom watched her play.

And enjoyed her beautiful smiles and curls!

Later at the hotel, Janet sat reading to Savannah.

Friday With Savannah!

On Friday I spent the day babysitting Savannah. It’s really the first time that I have had Savannah for this amount of time, and did I have fun.

July 26 13 015

We played on the floor, we danced to music, we read books and I made her lunch and then she fell asleep in my arms.

Savannah Grandma

That was the most special part of the day! Feeling that sweet, perfect, little body fall asleep in my arms.

Savannah is really a delight.

July 26 13 023

She is happy, and has such an even temperament. For instance, she has a little cold right now, but you would never would have known it by the way she was acting.

July 26 13 013

It was the best day and one I want to remember always, so I can tell her stories about it in the future.

Savannah!

On Friday I got to have lunch with my daughter, Mandy and my granddaughter, Savannah!

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have not seen them since Savannah’s birthday party on June 1st. Too long.

Today we met at Applebee’s and had lunch, and I took a bunch of pictures.

July 12 13 010

She is so adorable and such a ham! She doesn’t love the camera, but she sure does take a good picture!

July 12 13 008

She flirted with everyone, and was full of smiles and funny faces too. It just made my entire day!

July 12 13 004

So, Friday was the very best of days and I thank Hubby and Mandy for doing all the driving involved!

Well Look At That!

Since I am never at a loss for words, it shocked me to see, at 4 PM on the 4th of July no less, that I had forgotten to post for today!

Forget the face or foot or my Mom not doing well. Wait, that is probably why I forgot! I have simply too much on my mind!

Since my foot is keeping me down, I decided to keep the fourth of July simple. I had ribs marinating in the fridge, potato salad all made and corn ready to be shucked and eaten.

Aside from that, I’ve watched Wimbledon Tennis, and reruns of movies I have already seen, but have become like old friends.

It is simply crayon meltingly hot, and also super humid! Hubby has all the air conditioers cleaned, and running. Our electric bill will not be good at the end of this month but, oh well!

I also got the best picture of my daughter holding her daughter today. They are at the beach and she put this on her Facebook wall.  I just love it!

Sometimes…

Sometimes computers just make me so mad!

You see yesterday I turned on the computer and the little icon for my speakers disappeared from the task bar! I looked and all the little boxes were checked and it ‘should’ have worked, but it didn’t!

So I tried a number of things to ‘fix’ it, and nothing worked. I sat down again today and gave it another go. I unchecked the boxes and saved that. They I rechecked the boxes and the icon appeared. So I very quickly saved the set up and then held my breath and closed the program out and waited.

Well, so far, so good. I’m hoping this has done it.

Savannah had her one year old photo shoot done. Here are my two favorites!

You know, it is just the most wonderful thing to have a daughter and a granddaughter that I am this crazy about! I am blessed!

Savannah’s Party

Today was our dear Savannah Rose’s Birthday Party! She was born at the right time of the year for a cook-out and lawn party! It was 95 degrees, but no one cared. We all just had a great time.

Mandy and her sister, Ally decorated the house, and Matt did the grill work cooking hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken!

The family all got together and we all had such a great time watching our girl celebrate! The funniest thing was when she opened a card I’d gotten for her which had Minnie Mouse singing. Well Savannah thought that was the best thing and she played with it over and over until her dad pried it out of her hands so she could finish opening gifts.

Anyway, here is a short video of the days happening!

They’re Here!

On Friday, May 31st, Savannah’s First Birthday, my family welcomed into this world Gabriel and Nolan. Identical twin boy! They are the sons of my nephew Mike and his wife Karan.

This was truly a one in a million pregnancy, as the boys shared an amniotic sack. It is a dangerous thing, and many families are not as lucky as ours.

Karan went in hospital April 6th. She was totally selfless, and gave up so much to ensure that these boys had the best chance to survive and thrive.

This morning, at 32 weeks, her boys came into this world. Nolan Daniell and Gabriel Alan. Nolan was 4 pounds 1-1/2 ounces, and 17 inches long and Gabriel was 4 pounds 1 ounce and 16 inches long!

Best of all Karan is doing well, and the two boys have so far not needed any assistance. By this I mean, no oxygen or feeding tubes. Hopefully they will remain healthy and strong and be ready to go home very soon!

Once their parents say it’s okay, I will share a picture. But for now I thank you all for your prayers!

Life

On Wednesday I went shopping! Many of you will recall, Friday is my darling Savannah’s First Birthday! So, after Weight Watchers I went out to get a few things. It is so much fun shopping for my granddaughter! I found the cutest dress and when I went to read the label I found it was made by a company called “Savannah”! Needless to say, the dress came home with me!

I also was looking for baby clothes for my nephew Mike and his wife, Karan’s twin boys! They will be delivered on Friday, which of course means they will share Savannah’s birthday!

Karan has had a difficult pregnancy and she has been in the hospital on bed rest since the beginning of April. Her boys are identical twins, and also share the same amniotic sack. This makes her pregnancy even more risky.

But things have gone well, and Karan is one of the bravest women I know. She has written a mini blog on Facebook and through that I have started to get to know her. I can see why my nephew is so crazy about her!

I will ask you all today to say a prayer for Karan and her boys. They will be delivered first thing on Friday morning. We are all on pins and needles waiting to hear that Karan and her boys have been safely delivered.

It’s Getting Close

On Monday afternoon I planted my peas. A nice full long row. I was careful about it and I got it all done in a nice straight line. At the end of that I was planning on doing the beans, green, wax and purple, but my back gave out and I came in. I have promised myself that I will finish this tomorrow.

I want to wait until next weekend to plant my seedlings. We’ve had such weird weather (they had snow less than an hour north of here!), that I’m being cautious with planting them in the big garden. I’d also love to get some chicken wire to run along the back wall of the garden for the pea plants to climb.

Savannah’s first birthday is on Friday! Can you believe that? The year has flown by! Last year at this time I started to sleep with my cell phone next to me at night, and then, before I knew it, she was here!

Now I can’t imagine life without her in it. It’s like I have known her all of my life. One thing I know for sure, she can brighten my day, just by being in my world. Her smile, the smell of her sweet hair, and the touch of her chubby little baby hands.

Yes, my dear friends, Savannah brings sunshine to my life!
