Boys, Noses and Pools

I was able to come to my sister’s house today and watch her grand kids swim and frolic in her pool. It was so much fun to watch them, and I really marveled at how much they had grown over time. Taft is tall and lean and athletic and his younger brother Luke is such a grown up boy now, who is not afraid of trying any of his brother’s tricks in the water. Taft patiently taught him how to somersault in the water today and Luke worked at it over and over and finally got it!

I even went in the water with the kids, just to cool off and get wet from my neck down. I have to keep my nose dry for a while.

Speaking of my nose, it’s doing okay. The bruising has started now, and although the pain has ebbed some, I find it difficult to eat anything that requires vigorous chewing. So give me some soggy toast and I’ll be fine. We did get more news from the pathology department. They excised a lot of tissue around the tumor and today these results came back.  They got it all. This is very good news!

Tomorrow we plan to finish up the last of our plans for the party on Saturday, and maybe I’ll even get into the pool again. That would be so nice. For now, it’s time for another cup of tea and  a pain pill!

  1. I am back (in the rain !) Thank you so much for your birthday wishes, it was nicely celebrated. I read your post about your surgery and saw the pictures, it’s not a very long scarf and it will disappear you will see. The most important thing is that everything is out now ! I had the same but of course on a cheek it didn’t hurt a nose is more sensible.

  2. YAY! Great news that they got it all! Amen! I never thought about the “chewing” part… I was thinking that it would hurt to smile. Which would also stink! You just rest and relax and take a few days easy… it’s the LEAST you deserve!!!

  3. Hi Mom,
Just a quick note to say have a great time in CT and send my best to all! Glad you are feeling well enough to have still made the trip a bit early, and I’m sure everything with the party will go great! Just sorry I won’t be able to be there to keep you company and to say hi to Mel and Janet and family….

    Love you lots,

  4. Glad you can spend some time with your sister and her grandkids before that big celebration.
Take good care of yourself and wear a hat, the sun isn’t good on scars!

  5. Hi Maribeth
Jack had a similar type surgery on his face last year and the scar is barely visible, if I didn’t know it was there, I wouldn’t see it at all. Take care!

  6. I hope you have a wonderful time at the celebration!

Your incision looks good. Pretty suturing too, I bet it will look good when they take them out 🙂

  7. I am sorry I have not logged in sooner to see how this went. I am glad it is over and it looks like you are healing well already! I hope Hubby continues to pamper you and let you rest up!
