Chocolate & Carbs, Oh My!

I woke up knowing that today was the day I would start back on Weight Watchers. Breakfast is always easy for me, because I like yogurt and the 1 point English muffins. I add to that a one egg white omelet and life is great!

Then I showered and weighed myself.

Gasp!

After that, no matter what I put on, I felt pudgy all day. Of course this is good motivation to stay on the plan. In fact I had a leader once who said to wear those tight jeans, because they keep you honest. I think she could be right.

I wasn’t in the mood for a salad, but I made myself one anyway. I made it with tuna sprinkled over the top. Usually I love this. Today, it felt like a terrible punishment, but I persevered and ate all of it.

I know myself pretty well. There are certain things I can eat and some things that I cannot. For instance…CHOCOLATE in any shape or form sends me to Heaven! I cannot get enough. I dream of it and all I want to do is eat it all. There is no way this girl could ever live in Hershey, Pennsylvania! Yes, chocolate is my drug of choice!

My other downfall are carbs. I haven’t met a carb I didn’t like, with the exception of the breadfruit, and I’m not convinced that it is actually a carb. During the month of December, I definitely over-carbed myself.ย  You should have seen some of the things they had on the cruise, and then when I came home I had that wonderful Marzipan Stollen Bread! Ah, the thought of it makes my stomach cry out for more!

Now it is time to pay the piper and get back on track.

Why am I doing this? Because I would hate like heck to allow myself to gain back all the weight that I lost. It is amazing how quickly it goes on, and how S.L.O.W.L.Y it goes off. So, call this a preemptive strike!

The dackels are all quite supportive although they miss the scraps. They all know that when Mama is dieting, she cleans her plate and there is nothing left for the little dogs!

Nothing much to report about my eye. I’m resting it and trying to do what the doctor advised, but it was so tough with the lopsided vision. Then Hubby got me a Captain Jack Sparrow eye patch and at least I can watch TV and read, even if I look a bit like a pirate!

  1. Tonite I committed myself to the Weight Loss Bible Study – including aerobics. I don’t know how that’s going to work with my back right now – but I’m going! I wish I had had the strength to get back to the diet 50 or 60 pounds ago… WHY I ever let myself gain ALL this weight back I will NEVER know. I was feelin’ sooooooooo good… and now I don’t. But you are only – what? 10 lbs. up? You GO! It won’t take you long. You’ll be back to skinny clothes LONG before summer!

I sure hope that eye behaves! Pirate looks cute on you though!

  2. I’m right there with you – I managed to keep the numbers pretty much under control over the holidays, but exercising and all those better eating patterns went right out the window. Time to stop screwing around and get serious again!

  3. Shiver me timbers, I spy a pirate lady, ARRRRR! Looking good!
Make some of those yummy veggies you love so much, Eggplant, sweet potatoes and treat yourself that way!!!
You will loss in no time.
I’m here for you! Love YOU, Mel

  4. Love the eye patch Mom! You look very cute! I hear you on the difficulties of starting the diet, but it is all for the best! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Love you lots,

    Mandy

  5. It suits you very well !! You should put a smiley on it !
I rarely weigh myself, I notice it when my jeans “shrinked” ! Until my 50th I could eat like a horse chocoloate, cakes whatever I wanted and didn’t put on one gram ! Now I have to be careful with chocolate only. I put on 3 kgs too during the feasts, but I know I only have to eat fruits instead of cakes. It’s not so hard for me, because I am not a very “sweet” girl.
