Feelings…

People who do not have animals claim that dogs and cats have no heart, and are unable to express their feelings. They claim that dogs cannot tell time, nor can they understand when someone goes away.

I am here to tell you all that this is incorrect!

My dogs can tell time. At 4:55 PM they all know that the magic time of 5 PM is nearly here and they will get their dinners. They jump around like little children on a sugar high, until I measure the food out and place the dishes on the floor.

Today I brought out our suitcases for our trip. I put them on the bed, and then started packing clothes into them for our trip. Hubby was in the bathroom shaving, and Arnie went over to him and when Hubby spoke to him he could see that he was shaking. He handed him to me and the shaking continued, as I soothed him

I had to go to a meeting on Monday night and Fritz had that terrible “deer in the headlights” look! He knows, Suitcases+Mommy getting her purse+carkeys means that Mommy is going away. Oh, my poor boys.

Anneliese has been cuddling with me, and even Greta has been sweet to Hubby and me. It’s just amazing how much these guys know and show us what they think and feel.

I have learned, after a lifetime of pet ownership just how smart and sensitive they are. In many ways the pups show more of their hearts than most people that I know.

  1. I agree with you. Like my dog, Abby. I have a deal on my mailbox that lets me know when the mail has been delivered. My dog recognizes the noise now, and expects me to go get the mail as soon as the alarm sounds!

  2. I think you’re absolutely right. I’ve never had my own pet, but I’ve seen behavior of pets from friends and you could clearly tell what was going on with them.
Sometimes they’re much smarter than humans in anticipating what’s going to happen.

  3. These people are stupid. When my suitcase is standing open in the room there is always one sitting in it and even before that they feel that I am leaving.

  4. My Dogs now exactly that usually I am coming home from work around quater to 5.
If I am earlier, they will come running from behind the house as soon as they hear my car. If I am later they are sitting at the gate waiting for me.

And my cat as well. She is sitting right in front of the house entrance when I come home from work.

My horse is able to recognize my footsteps. When I am still behind the stable wall and she definitely can’t see me she is already calling out for me.

  5. They do not know how to express feelings? What about when you come home from somewhere and the dogs jump up and down, because they are soooo happy you´re home?! Those people do not know what they are saying. 🙂

  6. I totally agree, Mom. My kitties have always known what the suitcase means!

Hope you guys have a great trip!

    Love you bunches,

    Mandy

  7. And Annie has not left my side while I recover! She knows to take good care of me right now. Love YOU, Mel

  8. Sensitive? Yes very much so! I always say I will be back whenever I leave. She knows. And why are they always waiting for you to come through the door? They know!!

  9. Oh yea… they know! And not only that… they know when we’re coming HOME too! Dennis says when I’ve been gone for a few days Jewl will just be mopey mopey mopey… but about 5 minutes before I get home, she starts doing the Mama Dance! She KNOWS! The cats? I’m not sure they know… or CARE! LOL!
