Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder!

Ricky Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, really know how to put on a show. I’ve never been a big fan of country music, but bluegrass is different. It makes you want to get up and dance!

Ricky was an amazing host during the evening. A talented singer and songwriter, his performance is still flawless, after 50 years in the business.

In between sets, while he would tune his instruments (I think he played three different ones) he told wonderful stories of his boyhood, his youth and breaking into show-business.

His band members, all became well loved by the crowd. What a talented group they are. Especially Andy Leftwich, the fiddle player. I tried to find a cut on YouTube that showed his skill, but I couldn’t. Suffice to say, if these guys ever make a stop in your area, go see them! You will not be disappointed.

We also loved the tenor singer with Ricky named Paul Brewster. He sang Kentucky Waltz and I was touched by his perfect tenor voice!

Despite my fear of crowds, I found none of this was a problem. The venue was smaller than most, and very open.

Our seats were in the 6th row on the left in front. Great seats! I felt quite relaxed the entire time, giving me hope that I can get over my fear of concert halls!
