Hives

For the last three weeks the Physical Therapist has been treating me with a drug called Dexamethasone topically. At first he applied in on a pad and hooked it up to a machine that sent pules of electricity into the affected areas in my hand. Little by little it became even more painful. Last time I told him I couldn’t use the zapping machine any longer.

So on Thursday he just applied it using an ultra sound wand. It felt terrible and my skin felt like it was on fire.

Friday night I started to develop a rash and Saturday I broke out in hives. The hives started out at the wrist and continued right up my arm to just below my elbow. So no more of this crappy medicine for me!

I’m not sure what they will do. The doctor mentioned she might want to inject me with this stuff and after breaking out in hives, I can safely say, that is not going to happen.

Perhaps I need to just plain stop using that hand for a good week. I do not know. Tuesday will be my next appointment. We will see what the Therapist says.

Sleep, Wrists, & Rashes

I have been waking at night lately for two reasons. I am a snorer and my hand/wrist/thumb on my right hand continues to wake me.

I simply cannot get back to sleep and lie there feeling awful. So, last week I made up our guest room, and when I wake in the night, I grab my pillow and go down the hall and get into bed there, all by myself.

At first I felt sort of lonely. You know, no husband, no dogs, but now I find I quickly fall back asleep and wake in the morning feeling rested.

Yesterday I felt an odd hot feeling on  my wrist. I took off the brace and noted that the area where my Physical Therapist puts on Dexamethasone liquid to ease the pain there, was all broken out and bright, flaming red! I guess I need to add this to my allergy list! One thing is for sure, I won’t let him use that again.

So that’s the wrap up from New Hampshire. Hope you all have a great Sunday!

The One About Hair!

I decided to try to just let my hair be curly, if that was what it wanted to be. The last few months, I have been blowing it dry so that it is straight. On Friday I just flipped my head over and using the defuser, blew my hair dry.

I think it actually came out pretty well, and frankly, I was getting a bit tired of wearing my hair straight. True to itself, the hair sprung back into it’s soft curly self, despite the fact that it is no longer in layers.

It still amazes me how long my hair is getting! I have not had long hair since 1984! So this really is a big change for me, and I kind of like it!

Just A Baseball Game

Mom and Dad at their 25th Wedding Anniversary Party. As my sister goes through their journals and pictures we’re finding two people that we knew, but not completely. It’s funny when you think about this. Things happen, you meet people in your life and then perhaps forget to mention it to your kids, because life is going on and things get hectic.

All I can say is, thanks Dad, for leaving this behind for us.

Happy Twenty-sixth Anniversary

Today, Hubby and I have been married for 26 years! Through the good and the bad, Hubby and I have survived and our marriage has grown. He is still the first person I want to talk to in the morning and the last person I want to kiss goodnight.

The last 26 years have slipped by so fast. Our children have grown, we now have a beautiful granddaughter and our life is full and rich in all the ways that count.

Thank you so much, Sweetie for making my life so full of love, happiness and the security I always wanted.

Happy 26th Anniversary!!!

Spring!

I hope that it was springlike where ever you are. Today, despite a few clouds, the temperatures rose and more of our snow melted.

The dogs ran in the yard, Hubby went for a walk and I enjoyed the heck out of the day. Spring, how I love you, especially after this long and cold, snowy, and icy winter!

I also installed Google Chrome onto my laptop. Talk about a learning curve! I’ve been using Firefox for years, but decided to switch. Somethings with Chrome I really like, and yet some things are painful and not user friendly at all, (like pop ups! If someone knows how to stop them please tell me!) Wait, I think I got it! If this does work, I’ll stick with Chrome for a while.

My hand is doing better. Between the therapy and my exercises, my trigger fingers are healing. Now if I can just get my thumb working again!

Have you seen “Frozen” the Disney kids movie? I watched it with Savannah the other day, and I loved it! It’s a great movie for young kids and older kids. The music is super!

Enjoy springtime, where ever you may be!

Savannah At Music Class

I spent the day on Saturday with Mandy, Matt, and Savannah. Savi had a music class and she just loves it. I also enjoyed watching it. Savi loves music, loves to dance and loves to sing. She is only a little shy, but once the music starts she begins to move!

What can I say? I am over the moon in love with my little granddaughter!

She has a beautiful smile and laugh. My heart fills when I see her having fun!

I loved this shot of Savi as she kept doing her split!

See her singing? She knows the words and was having such a good time!

Happy Savannah!

And after her music class, and a little shopping and lunch, my little cherub fell asleep on the sofa. After about about an hour, she moved and curled up in my lap. A grandmother’s dream!

Friday

Tomorrow I will be going down to spend the day with Mandy, Matt and Savannah. Savi has a music class and then after lunch I will babysit for Sav so her parents can go to a matinee. Now this is really what we call Oma Fun!

My therapy on my hand went well and my hand. I like my therapist and I am getting more and more pain free motion back.

On Thursday I go my hair done at my salon. My hairdresser did an amazing job. She really always does. A year ago my dear friend and hair stylist Margarita passed away from cancer. I miss her so much, and even though my new stylist doesn’t do my hair the way Margarita did, she does really well. Our relationship is uniquely our own. But we all miss Margarita.

The day was another beauty! Blue skies, warmer temperatures and lots of snow melting! Yay Spring!

Paper Clips

What a beautiful day! The sun was shining, the sky was clear and blue, and it was WARM!One could almost watch the snow melt!

Hubby and I spent the day together. We did things together, like shop, slowly. We took our time. That was good and nice.

The drive to the stores, was so darn pretty. I actually felt happy and hopeful that spring is on it’s way. I also had a funny thing happen.

Today was the 36th anniversary of my brother, Dickie, passing from cancer. He was seven years older than me.

In some ways, I did not know him as well as my sister did. They were just two years apart, and in many ways best friends.

Anyway, I was feeling a bit sad, and thinking back to when we learned he had cancer, and how my Dad and I had been together when we got the phone call.

Hubby and I stopped at a car dealership, and when  I was looking at a car, I opened the door and there was a paper clip.

You see, Dad always had paper clips, and since his passing a few years back, on the days when I feel low or sad, I find a paper clip in a weird place. During the time Mom was at the end of her life, I kept finding jumbo paper clips. Maybe it’s nothing, but I like to believe it’s Dad’s way of letting me know I’m not alone.

It was a good day!
