Being At Home

This was my first normal day home. By this I mean, I slept until almost 6 AM, ate normal meals, and even was able to help Hubby net the cherry tree in our yard. Netting the tree proved to be a bit more of a challenge than we anticipated, but after 2 hours the tree is netted and the cherries are safe from those rotten little birds!

I made salads for lunch for the two of us and then Hubby went off to work and I sat down and had a sinking spell. Oh how I felt like sleeping!

However, I decided to just stick it out and stay awake. I made some nice tea and sat with the dogs and sipped it. Eventually I got my second wind, and went off to get the mail and some groceries.

Our town is currently overrun with motorcycles as this is motorcycle week here in New Hampshire. What this means is that we have unbelievable traffic in town and getting from one place to the next can be a real challenge.

I’d finished my shopping when I began to pull out of the parking lot, and a woman turned around and started wagging her finger at me telling me to slow down! This was almost funny because the car was going perhaps 2 miles an hour!

I came home and worked to make Hubby a really nice meal for dinner. One of his favorites. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts! I also made a fruit salad for dessert.

Anneliese is already in bed, and I am not long behind her. It’s a little funny when a dog is also experiencing jet lag!

In this, (jet lag) I am not suffering alone!

  1. I remember when we came home from Hawaii on Christmas Eve one year. It was a very laid back Christmas and we enjoyed it so much. I’d wrapped everything before we left and did a little shopping for food after we got home and I was still on Aloha time. It was “Well, that ham looks so nice…maybe we will have it for our dinner.”

  2. I used to do pretty good about jet-lag…not anymore, it’s the worst and I normally only have to fight against a 4-hr difference…This August in the Midwest will be a 7- hour jet lag, wish me luck! Hope you and Anneliese adjust your inner clocks soon 8)

  3. No ‘jetlag’ for me, but in so many ways, I think i ‘shook it’ my Hong Kong stopover!

BUT, in having said that, my alarm went at it’s normal time (5.30am) so I could go for a walk/run, but I rolled over and next thing I knew, it was 7am!!! I was out the door in 15mins and had a good run into work… 45mins!!!

  4. I remember when I was visiting the last time in Canada. My jet lag was really bad. I woke at 4 every morning and I couldn´t shake it. I hope you are feeling back to normal soon. When will you know if Anneliese is “pregnant” and the trip was a success? 🙂

  5. I will know at the end of June. Until then, I will worry and fret that it didn’t take.

  6. Morning Sis! I am busy getting Abby ready for school. Mike is picking her up to take her to school so I won’t have to rush off.
I hope there are pups, I need something to cheer me up about now.
Love YOU always and greatly, Mel

  7. Jet lag is the worst. Hope you recover easily and also that there are healthy little puppies in utero.

  8. So normal routine life has you back, me too ! But tomorrow I decided to go to the sea for the day, for once the sun is shining ! Are your feet better ?
I think it’s easier to get used to the jet lag when you go to the States then to Europe. I remember we got up at 3 am went to Brussels to ate some mussels, lol ! We couldn’t sleep.

  9. It took me quite some time to adjust last August when we travelled to the West Coast. Man, that was bad.
I was back to German-time the day we arrived back. We didn’t sleep for about 30 hours and I stayed awake until night and slept right trough. That was great!

The time when we visited the East Coast I had no problems with jet lag.

  10. No need to worry & fret over whether Anneliese’s mating took – if it didn’t work this time, that just means you get one more trip to Deutschland, and one more round of trip pictures for us to enjoy! Hope your (& Anneliese’s) inner clocks get back to east coast time soon!

  11. Dave made some swordfish for dinner last night and summer squash. This morning I made some Tuscan Tuna & Beans for lunch, which I’m eating now…delish!

  12. Welcome home and hope you soon recover from jetlag. I know all about that stuff!! I had to laugh, notice how planting a cherry tree can change your whole perspective. From natures song….to rotten little birds…hehehe…its all relative I guess. Hope your cherries are great this year!
