The Friday Five

The Friday Five

Once again the week flew by. I don’t know where 2019 is going, but it sure is slipping by at an alarming rate! In any case, here is this weeks list of five things that are on my mind!

  1. Today would have been my mother’s 90th birthday. I’ve been missing her a lot this year and so many times I have wished I could have called her and chatted with her, even if it was for a few minutes. She was so beautiful and she was loving and kind. Happy Birthday, Mom.

  2. Each day I start my day walking the dogs and feeding the birds. The birds have caught onto this and while I am walking the dogs, the birds are singing to me reminding me to get their food out!P6250024 (3)
  3. I have been continuing with cleaning and clearing a space in our house each day. Some of the junk will go to the recycling center and some will be donated to charity. It will take me a long time to get this done, but it simply must be done.
  4. Today I start my extensive Physical Therapy. After my surgery in 2017, no PT was ordered. After such a lengthy illness and recovery, my body was in very bad shape. And the muscles clenched in my shoulders and neck. I am starting this new PT program and it will hopefully relax those clenched muscles and then help me to rebuild my strength. I have a great hope!
  5. I would be remiss without mentioning that all the rain we have had has turned my yard into a lush green paradise. We have had many summers that were dry and everything turns to burn toast! This year, the grass is thick and green, and the fruit trees are full of green leaves and tiny apple, peaches, and plums.

So that’s my week and I am feeling so positive about it all. Have a great weekend and enjoy your summer!

j0382597This week seemed to go by very fast. I’ve been amazingly productive and I have found so much joy this week, I am all smiles! So here goes with this weeks list!

  1. I think one of the best things was spending part of Tuesday with my grandchildren, and going out to dinner with Mandy, Matt, and both kids. It was Savannah’s last day of First Grade and so we celebrated her accomplishment! She did so well in her first year of Public School, and I am so proud of her!

  2. Little Quinn had an accident and fell and sliced his head open. Apparently, it was quite a bloody mess, and he wore his stitch and band-aide as a badge of courage! He is one tough cookie.

  3. I had my first Physical Therapy Session and begin actual treatment next week. I expect to be slightly the worse for wear during the initial stages, but I am excited by the prospect of getting the pain under control.
  4. My Bird Feeders are providing me with such joy. I even got my windows clean and sparkling so I can take a picture and also see out clearly.

  5. Despite the fact that I promised no more gardens, I have some patio pots with tomatoes, peppers, basil, rosemary, and thyme that I am growing. Nothing too much, just a small number and just right.

So that’s my week and what a nice week it was. Enjoy your weekend one and all!

Friday Five

The start of the week found me at the beach, and the end of the week found me at home. In between, I filled my days with lots of good stuff.

  1. I’m so lucky that despite a sprained ankle, I did a lot on vacation. I managed to get to see my elderly cousin and have lunch with her. Her health has not been good, so this was a very nice visit that we had!

  2. I got to eat lunch on the beach in the rain! Now trust me, there were people that ran inside when the raindrops fell, but it was 90 degrees and the gentle rain felt nice on my skin.
  3. Forget any sort of good hair pictures during my trip. It was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit each day, with 70+% humidity. I looked like Bozo the clown! It matters not. It was nice and relaxing and I had a great time.

  4. Beware of Seatmates on Airplanes who are facing Federal charges for crimes we all know he committed. I was so surprised to see this man and tried to sneak a selfie, but alas, I was not able to.
  5. How wonderful to have doggies that missed me and welcomed me home! I sure missed them and I know they missed me.

The Friday Five

The Friday Five

It’s the first weekend in June and I am away and at the beach. But here are some things I have been thinking about as the week comes to a close.

  1. I needed to get Anneliese’s eye drops. My Veterinary Ophalmologist called in a prescription and I went to get it at the Pharmacy. The Technician announced that it was $140.00! Oh, my, sweet Mother of God! The Tech looked at me, with eyes that asked if I really wanted to spend that kind of money on a dog?
  2. I recalled we have a prescription card for that Pharmacy. I asked if this would be covered? She disappeared and came back a moment later with a smile on her face. “I love you,” I said. She laughed “You are really going to love me when you find out how much you saved”.
  3. The total for this very expensive eye drop was $40.00! We both laughed. And she smiled and told me that this had brightened her day.  Needless to say, it brightened mine!
  4. I got to the car, and with tears in my eyes, and I told Jack what had occurred. Anneliese is blind, pretty much in her left eye. But these drops help her right eye from becoming totally blind and keeps the pressure down.
  5. So as I look back to my humble hometown Pharmacy, I am grateful for their prescription plan and that it covered my little doggy’s eye drops!

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Friday Five

What a crazy week.

The Big Bang Theory is ending. I recall 12 years ago when I watched this show for the first time. It has brought me so much laughter and joy, and I am thankful.

    1. I guess the biggest news is that Anneliese had her surgery. It is sort of a doggy mastectomy. She has been in quite a lot of pain, and we will have the pathology reports next week. Meanwhile, I am trying to keep her contained and comfortable!

20190516_171834

    1. We’ve had peaks of sunshine, but actually more rain than I can remember for a long while. So very sick of rain!
    2. My earlier wave of energy as far as bathroom cleaning has ended with both three clean bathrooms, and my back and neck are still intact! I swear it was temporary insanity!
    3. I got my pictures back from the John Edward Event. I cannot thank my daughter enough for this. I had such a great time.

4. Jack is still not feeling 100%. I think he had a little virus. He was still very sleepy last night but did enjoy watching the Big Bang Theory with me.

5. In eighteen days I leave for my little getaway. I can hardly wait. 2019 has been such a difficult year, and  I have really felt the need for some downtime.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I’ll be hooking up my new Router and getting all the TV’s, cellphones and such hooked up. I wish you all (and me) sunshine!

The Friday Five

Another week has come and gone. Despite my wanting to have a quiet week, this one turned into an incredibly busy one. Here’s what’s happening on The Lake.

  1. I decided that I want to have some patio pots this year with a few things like tomatoes, herbs and possibly peppers. I do not want to have too much, just enough to satisfy my gardening spirit.
  2. I cooked a lot this week. And when there were leftovers I made something from them and then froze those for Jack. I have three meals put aside for him for when I go off for a few days in June. The latest was today. I made an awesome Tomato-Basil & Garlic Meat Spaghetti Sauce. And it came out so well! I fear these meals will all be so good, Jack will want me to go off more often! Ha!
  3. I usually wait until the weekend to do laundry, but on Thursday I did all the laundry, hung out a lot of it, and got it all done! I am scaring myself with how much I have accomplished!
  4. I had cleaned my closet out and had 5 bags of clothes and two twin size comforters to donate. Not only did I remember to get them into the Highlander before WW on Wednesday, but I brought them into St. Vincent DePaul, and remembered my receipt!
  5. Oh, I just looked outside and can see a few things like forsythia, and cherry blossoms and Rhododendrons too!

Just a few pictures of the Cherry Blossoms, Forsythia, and Rhododendron.

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

The Friday Five

People, here we are on the first Friday in May! I cannot believe how fast the year is going. The weirdest part is that we usually have nice warm temperatures now, but it has been cold and rainy. Go figure!

So, here are this weeks Friday Five!

The Friday Five

  1. I had a weird thing happen on Friday. I was expecting a package from Amazon, and the Tracking number showed it had been delivered at 9:30 this morning. But when we got the mail it wasn’t there. Later this afternoon they “found” it. The package had been opened and I suspect that they gave it to the wrong person and fortunately the person was honest and returned it. Probably because the bra inside didn’t fit them!
  2. I came up with 5 garbage bags full of clothes to bring to St. Vincent De Paul. I took everything out of my closet and went through each item and I was amazed at the stuff I no longer wear and needed to go! I was also amazed at how nice my closet looked after!
  3. Today I to for my first visit to the Pain Clinic. I have been in pain since my cervical spine surgery in 2017. Actually before that. I thought I could learn to live with it, but I finally gave up. I cannot deal with the pain, and I need help. I do not want pills and I do not want more surgery, so perhaps some Physical Therapy will help.
  4. Tomorrow is Jack’s Birthday, and I have a Post all ready to go. I will stop on my way home on Saturday and get everything I need to prepare a special meal.
  5. So, are you waiting for Meghan and Harry to have their baby? Do you think she has already given birth, as some reports contend? Are you pro Meghan and Harry, or are you just bored to tears?

The Friday Five

Tell me how this is happening. It’s already the end of April. In fact, this is the last weekend in April! Oh my goodness. I think I must quickly pass along this information…As you get older, Time Goes By Much Faster!

Thursday was a lovely Spring day and I tried some new things on my cell phone camera. So this week, here are the five pictures of life around my home.

  1. These pretty flowers sprouted again. I planted bulbs years ago on Max’s grave in our yard. These bright blue Chionodoxa ‘Glory of the Snow’ come back every year! I love them.

2. Another pretty flower bulb, a Crocus, I planted years ago. It’s lovely. Only two sprouted this year. Time for me to get crackin’ and plant some new bulbs this year!

20190425_115237

3. This is my first time using a special method to get a widescreen shot. That’s our stone wall and my neighbors home. The blur at the bottom of the picture in the middle is Arnie!

20190425_143709

4. Our lake. I walked down the hill and stood across the street from the beach to take this shot.

20190425_1504185. Our home. Our shrubs haven’t woken up yet, and the grass is not a rich velvety green just yet, but this is our home.

The Friday Five

The Friday Five

So here we are, another week has come and gone. I’m actually feeling like Spring has finally arrived, as we have not had any snow and on the lakes, the ice is finally melting!

So, without further adieu, here is this week’s Friday Five!

    1. I wanted a nice quiet week, and once we filed out taxes on Monday, things got blessedly quiet!
    2. I got the results of my yearly bloodwork. My numbers aren’t looking so good for things like A1C and Cholesterol. Crap! It means more restrictions with my diet and really paying attention to my sugars.
    3. I do not like that! Jack told me that I need to accept this stuff because I’m getting older. The body may be 60 but in my mind, I still feel incredibly young.
    4. Our snow has all melted in the yard, and now we are just waiting for the ice to melt off the top of our Lake.

57471805_10157217394426499_6197133999874244608_n5. It’s almost Easter! This means, grandchildren, daughter, and granddog! The whole family is getting together at Mandy and Matt’s house for dinner. This should be fun!

The Friday Five

The Friday Five

The week is over. I’m still amazed that we are almost in the middle of April! OMG! How did this happen?

While I contemplate an answer to this question, let me write out this week’s Friday Five!

    1. The week started out with our anniversary, doctors appointments and continuing work on our Income Taxes. Oh, how I hate April 15th, which is coming up very fast!
    2. We had snow!

20190408_0705073. And Icicles, just like I place on my Christmas tree, only those are plastic and not really like these were. These were real!

20190409_140135

4. I got my hair cut!

20190404_185450

5. And lastly, I spent a lot of time setting up and programming the Tablet. And I love it!
