Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill-Ins

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it! Here we go!

1. Eggs are the very best! I love having them boiled and then stuffed! Let’s call it Easter.
2. After a long time, with no strength, I am finally feeling well, and that is awesome!
3. When I look in the mirror, I see a survivor.
4. Turkey, chestnut stuffing, gravy, mashed potato, peas, cranberry sauce, and butternut squash, these are the things I like for a special dinner!
5. Currently, I’m drinking a nice hot cup of tea and snuggling with Anneliese.
6. Mind games.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to looking at the 3-D picture of my grand daughter, tomorrow my plans include vacuuming, dusting and finishing getting ready for Easter. and Sunday, I want to enjoy each and every member of my family!!

No Hodgepodge Here

Usually I follow Joyce, with her Wednesday Hodgepodge, but since she is suffering from severe jet-lag this week, she is taking a spring break. So here is another random free thought type of post.

I was handed a very large packet of things to read in one week, including a 40 page report. I’m not thrilled about it, as I have a problem with reading. However, I know that in the real world, reports are reports and I better suck it up!

So I need to put my Kindle down, turn off the TV, and computers, and sit in a silent room and work through these, somewhat dry pages.

I had gotten a Kindle Fire from my cousin and Hubby for my birthday last November. Now I am a reading maniac! However, I can adjust the font size, and let’s face it, “The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo” is a whole lot more interesting that my work documents!

Why, oh why, can’t I find a job that pays me to read things on my Kindle?

For those of you who may be new to my blog, I have had retinal detachments in both eyes, cataract surgery in both eyes, lens replacement, and then 6 surgeries in my left eye to clear the vision. My eyes, simply put, have been beat up a bit with all the cutting and stitching.

I am grateful to have vision, but it is not easy to read small fonts. I think perhaps, I’ll just get a job greeting people at Walmart! They wouldn’t make me read small fonts, would they?

Mothers & Daughters

Yesterday I cooked a rotisserie chicken. I actually ate some of it too! My first real meal, in a very long time. It tasted okay.

I boned the chicken, and set the bones, carrot, onion and celery, on to the stove with some water and herbs, to make my own broth. And then I cooked it. Six hours last night and 5 hours today.

Meanwhile, Hubby helped me chop vegetables for the soup. It is a wonderful full and delicious chicken and vegetable soup, that we will have tonight.

I got a text from my daughter and I will be going with her on Friday when she has her next ultra sound! I am going to get to see my daughter’s daughter!

I can’t even begin to tell you how fabulous it is that my daughter will have a daughter of her own. You see, I love her so much, and now, in so many ways, she will know how I have felt all along! Mistakes and all. I have loved her completely.

And I will see her little girl and a whole new chapter of her life and my life will begin. New love and life and so much happiness!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

What To Do…What To Do?

About a year from now, on April 9th, Hubby and I will celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It really is quite an accomplishment. Many people think that marriage is easy. It’s not. Many days it was down right difficult, but the one thing that never stopped, was the friendship, the love between us.

Love

It’s funny how things worked out for Hubby and me. Hubby was my best friend for a long time. Long before we ever dated or fell in love. He made me smile and he made me laugh. I’ve known him since our daughter’s were 4 and 5 years old, and became playmates. Friends.

I think it’s important to be good friends first, because at the end of the day, in good times and bad, you need to know that you are friends and can rely on each other.

In the early years of our marriage, things were tough, but we handled it by deciding on a coarse of action. Hubby had his pilot’s license, so we would look at each other during those days and say, “There’s always Alaska!”. And we knew there was. Together it wouldn’t matter. We could get through anything. Even Alaska!

I have been thinking about what Hubby and I can do for our 25th Anniversary. Our family is very small, so a party seemed silly. I was thinking more along the lines of a trip. A romantic, relaxing trip, next April, someplace warm for Hubby and me.

Any ideas?

Well!

I woke up on Thursday morning and before I opened my eyes I assessed my health. My head wasn’t swaying inside, my stomach felt well, and nothing ached! So, I opened my eyes, and my brain wasn’t reacting to light (in a bad way!).

Yes! I was finally feeling WELL!!!

I cautiously ate a breakfast of an egg and toast and apple juice, with a nice cup of chamomile tea. I waited and all was good! I dressed and went to buy flowers for my neighbors 80th birthday, and found I felt pretty well.

Coming home, I made lunch for Hubby and had some for me too, and once again, I am feeling good! So, I am thinking that I really have started to get well!

Tonight I will try to eat a normal meal, in small portions and see if I am over the worst!

Yay!!!

Thursday Thirteen

Nov 24 015

I decided to do an update on what is happening with me and, well life in general.

  1. Still not feeling terribly well, but I am making more of an effort at my recovery.
  2. I am trying to eat every few hours, things that will give me back my strength.
  3. Greta was barking this morning to go out. I opened the door and then I heard a truck in our driveway.
  4. He was backing up, as our drive is a dead end, and Greta was headed for his truck!!!
  5. I was running and screaming for him to stop before he ran over my stupid dog!
  6. He never did!!!
  7. I said to Greta, in a commanding voice…STOPTREAT!
  8. She stopped. I was amazed at how fast she can run, and how fast I ran trying to catch her.
  9. After this I called the Propane Company who accessed my drive and explained that this is a private drive, and this careless driver had almost run over my pet!
  10. I explained I had screamed at him and he appeared not to hear me. If you are driving a Propane truck, you had better be aware of what is happening around you!
  11. After that event, I slept for two hours.
  12. I slept in my reclining love seat with both of the foot rests up, and all three dackels snuggled up to me!
  13. Time to feed the dogs!

Turning Corners

Monday was the turning point for me. Not that I jumped up and ate an entire pancake breakfast with a side of eggs and bacon, no that will have to wait for another day, but I was able to stand up, when I woke, and have scrambled egg and toast for breakfast! Yay!

I ate, what would be considered a normal serving and then sipped ginger ale through out the morning. At lunch I was able to eat our own apple sauce, and crackers, but then I felt really full so I put off eating the yogurt until later.

By the way, I’ve discovered the Greek yogurt, Oikos.

I think that’s the name of it! Oh, I love it! I read the package and since it has natural cultures I thought it would be a good addition to the diet.

Anyone have any other things I can eat, as I reintroduce food to my stomach? Tonight I am trying a plain baked potato and some butternut squash.

It’s this being so weak that is making me crazy. I try to do some things and then I have to rest. Can you imagine that? 53 and I get too tired and need to rest! Crazy!

Now it’s time to just keep on doing what I can to, which is slowly eat and rest and work myself back into shape!

Oh yes, my pal from Weight Watchers called to check on me and she mentioned that I will probably have lost a lot of weight. “Nah” I said. “With my luck, I will have gained 3 pounds!”

What I Did This Last Weekend

Miss Marple 2

Our host is Gattina. Come join us and tell us what YOU did this past weekend! After all, you never know when you will need an alibi!

***************

It’s a pretty easy and very boring wrap up for this past weekend. I slept, drank ginger ale, and started to eat some soft foods. I still feel so darn run down, that I have no ambition at all to do very much. Hubby has been taking good care of me, and the doggies.

We finished watching “The Millennium Series” of movies, which are the three films made in Sweden from the books “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest”.

The.Girl_.With.The_.Dragon.Tattoo.Cover_1

We watched the sub-titled ones, available on Amazon.com Prime, for free, and they were so well done, and the acting is great. They are tough to watch, and yet, man’s inhumanity to man is all around us.

Our beautiful sunny, warm weather, which brought out the buds on our fruit trees, is over. It is cold, and cloudy and Hubby made me a nice fire in the hearth. So I will melt into my chair and relax for the rest of the weekend.

Just Resting

I was putting a few groceries away, when I realized that I hadn’t written anything on Dackel Princess. My confession, I simply have been so unwell, that last night I actually forgot. I went to bed and slept eleven hours!

Hubby has me eating something every few hours, and sipping ginger ale and chamomile tea, but I am impatient. I want to feel well.

So in case you wonder if I have fallen off the face of the earth, the answer is no. I’m still here.

Just resting.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching the last movie in the Trilogy “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. This one is called “The Girl That Kicked The Hornet’s Nest”. These are also the original movies made in Sweden!, tomorrow my plans include I’m not really sure. I would love to go and see Mandy if I am feeling better. and Sunday, I want to just kick back and relax.!
