Well!

I woke up on Thursday morning and before I opened my eyes I assessed my health. My head wasn’t swaying inside, my stomach felt well, and nothing ached! So, I opened my eyes, and my brain wasn’t reacting to light (in a bad way!).

Yes! I was finally feeling WELL!!!

I cautiously ate a breakfast of an egg and toast and apple juice, with a nice cup of chamomile tea. I waited and all was good! I dressed and went to buy flowers for my neighbors 80th birthday, and found I felt pretty well.

Coming home, I made lunch for Hubby and had some for me too, and once again, I am feeling good! So, I am thinking that I really have started to get well!

Tonight I will try to eat a normal meal, in small portions and see if I am over the worst!

Yay!!!

Nov 24 015

I decided to do an update on what is happening with me and, well life in general.

  1. Still not feeling terribly well, but I am making more of an effort at my recovery.
  2. I am trying to eat every few hours, things that will give me back my strength.
  3. Greta was barking this morning to go out. I opened the door and then I heard a truck in our driveway.
  4. He was backing up, as our drive is a dead end, and Greta was headed for his truck!!!
  5. I was running and screaming for him to stop before he ran over my stupid dog!
  6. He never did!!!
  7. I said to Greta, in a commanding voice…STOPTREAT!
  8. She stopped. I was amazed at how fast she can run, and how fast I ran trying to catch her.
  9. After this I called the Propane Company who accessed my drive and explained that this is a private drive, and this careless driver had almost run over my pet!
  10. I explained I had screamed at him and he appeared not to hear me. If you are driving a Propane truck, you had better be aware of what is happening around you!
  11. After that event, I slept for two hours.
  12. I slept in my reclining love seat with both of the foot rests up, and all three dackels snuggled up to me!
  13. Time to feed the dogs!

Turning Corners

Monday was the turning point for me. Not that I jumped up and ate an entire pancake breakfast with a side of eggs and bacon, no that will have to wait for another day, but I was able to stand up, when I woke, and have scrambled egg and toast for breakfast! Yay!

I ate, what would be considered a normal serving and then sipped ginger ale through out the morning. At lunch I was able to eat our own apple sauce, and crackers, but then I felt really full so I put off eating the yogurt until later.

By the way, I’ve discovered the Greek yogurt, Oikos.

I think that’s the name of it! Oh, I love it! I read the package and since it has natural cultures I thought it would be a good addition to the diet.

Anyone have any other things I can eat, as I reintroduce food to my stomach? Tonight I am trying a plain baked potato and some butternut squash.

It’s this being so weak that is making me crazy. I try to do some things and then I have to rest. Can you imagine that? 53 and I get too tired and need to rest! Crazy!

Now it’s time to just keep on doing what I can to, which is slowly eat and rest and work myself back into shape!

Oh yes, my pal from Weight Watchers called to check on me and she mentioned that I will probably have lost a lot of weight. “Nah” I said. “With my luck, I will have gained 3 pounds!”

What I Did This Last Weekend

Our host is Gattina. Come join us and tell us what YOU did this past weekend! After all, you never know when you will need an alibi!

***************

It’s a pretty easy and very boring wrap up for this past weekend. I slept, drank ginger ale, and started to eat some soft foods. I still feel so darn run down, that I have no ambition at all to do very much. Hubby has been taking good care of me, and the doggies.

We finished watching “The Millennium Series” of movies, which are the three films made in Sweden from the books “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest”.

The.Girl_.With.The_.Dragon.Tattoo.Cover_1

We watched the sub-titled ones, available on Amazon.com Prime, for free, and they were so well done, and the acting is great. They are tough to watch, and yet, man’s inhumanity to man is all around us.

Our beautiful sunny, warm weather, which brought out the buds on our fruit trees, is over. It is cold, and cloudy and Hubby made me a nice fire in the hearth. So I will melt into my chair and relax for the rest of the weekend.

Just Resting

I was putting a few groceries away, when I realized that I hadn’t written anything on Dackel Princess. My confession, I simply have been so unwell, that last night I actually forgot. I went to bed and slept eleven hours!

Hubby has me eating something every few hours, and sipping ginger ale and chamomile tea, but I am impatient. I want to feel well.

So in case you wonder if I have fallen off the face of the earth, the answer is no. I’m still here.

Just resting.

Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill Ins

No lilacs QUITE yet. Here we go!

1. Spring seems like it is just around the corner.
2. And then a strong wind blew and the ice lake was no more.
3. I forgot that I need to finish the laundry!
4. Chocolate is delicious!
5. Heads, shoulders, knees and toes.
6. Hiking is my favorite form of exercise when it’s warm enough out not to wear a coat!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching the last movie in the Trilogy “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. This one is called “The Girl That Kicked The Hornet’s Nest”. These are also the original movies made in Sweden!, tomorrow my plans include I’m not really sure. I would love to go and see Mandy if I am feeling better. and Sunday, I want to just kick back and relax.!

Sick

I saw my doctor on Thursday. His secretary and nurse were quite sympathetic as I had been in just before we left, and I was so excited about my vacation.

Now, here I was, back from vacation and feeling sick.

I mean, really sick!

They were so nice, and so was my doctor. The exam went well and after writing me a prescription off I went.

Hopefully I will be feeling back to my normal self in a week or so!

Meanwhile,

clear liquids only for the next few days!

I’ll make my goal weight yet!

LOL!

This week I want to catch you all up on what’s happening in my little corner of the world!

  1. I’ve been sick since I returned home from my cruise.
  2. I think it may have to do with the one bottle of water that I drank in Mexico.
  3. It said it was purified water, but…I know, I should have had a beer instead!
  4. I’m so sick, that I am actually going to the doctor tomorrow.
  5. I have decided that I will never again return to Mexico!
  6. Needless to say, I’ve lost weight at Weight Watchers for the last two weeks. I am one bacterial infection away from my goal weight!
  7. Now that we are home and not on vacation, the weather has been beautiful!
  8. The temperatures have been in the upper 70’s and low 80’s (f) each day!
  9. My flowers outside are blooming as is my Christmas Cactus! Go figure!
  10. I finished reading “The Vow”. I was speaking to my sister about how great the book is, (It’s a true story) and she wasn’t impressed. It turns out that they so seriously rewrote the movie, that is no longer resembles what really happens!
  11. We went and saw The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band last week! Great concert!
  12. The air conditioner went in to our bed room today.
  13. How can one handle high temperatures and hot flashes?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The first day of spring is here…do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting-your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?

I love planting the garden, and planning it. I am not a fan of weeding the garden, but it made such a difference last year! We still have butternut squash left!

2. What puts a spring in your step?

When I fully understand something, when I accomplish something and anticipating my granddaughter!

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action?

It was Easter a couple years ago and my cousin had brought home made yeast rolls with her to make, in a cast iron skillet. A (I think it was) dish towel got too close to the stove (gas) and the towel started to burn! I grabbed it, tossed it in the sink and turned on the water.

4. We’re having carrots for dinner…would you prefer yours raw or cooked?

Either way. Raw I like the baby carrots, cooked I like sliced big carrots.

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

I used to. I brought them home to have here for my guests. Now I have quite a little stash, so I have stopped doing this.

6. What’s the most enjoyable team or club you’ve belonged to and what was it that made it so?

Back when Hubby and I were first married, Hubby had several commuter apartments, that he shared with other pilots. The one in Miami was my favorite, due to the warm weather and the great group of guys. They all treated me like their little sister and sort of looked out for me.

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?

No. Heaven help us if someone ever clones me! I think we are not necessarily a product of our genes, but more a product of our experiences.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Here I am. Yesterday I was going nuts because I could not make my “Smart TV” talk to Amazon. I tried all afternoon and it was choked up! Finally at 8 o’clock I told Hubby I was going to stop working on it and sleep on the problem. It seems lately, when I do that, I can see the problem and it all works out!

So I did that and this morning, I got up, turned on the TV and attempted to connect to Amazon to watch a free TV show (The pilot episode of NYPD Blue), and it worked! Hubby was shocked!

***************

It was a full and fun weekend this, my first full weekend home! First we had incredible weather, making me feel like spring had sprung, and I am finally starting to feel well.

When we landed last week from our vacation, I seemed to have gotten some sort of stomach flu. I just felt really terrible and very tired.

I struggled all week and then on Saturday, I started feeling better, which was great because my cousin and his girlfriend came to fix my computer.

It was fun to see him and get to know Cindy better, and I cooked a family favorite, Sauer Braten! Cindy made the best Chocolate Mousse for dessert and I felt like a contented feline! Purrrrrrr!

I worked after they left to reload my computer. I worked until 11 PM. Then today spent most of the day on Sunday getting things all worked out. I know there are still things left to do, but I think I will just work it out as I need to.

One thing my cousin did do is lock my WiFi down. The only thing left for me to do is to lock down the TV into the WiFi system. I wish I had taken a film of me connecting the Kindle! I must have done it a dozen times before I got it right!

Yes, today it felt really good to be home and to be able to catch up with all the little things in life.

And how was your weekend?
