Friday Five ~ October 7th

Friday FiveThis week flew by. I was here, there, and everywhere, And aside from today, I had appointments all week. So, let’s go, here is this week’s Friday Five!

  1. On Monday, we met up with our Financial Advisor. We always enjoy these visits because Elena is such a kind and knowledgeable woman. Everything is set for the next year.
  2. Tuesday was Jack’s Primary Care appointment. He did okay but he needs to return in three months. His doctor is a military doctor and is quite good, and a no-nonsense type of doctor. This was also the first time I have left Heidi with Lili for an extended period of time. I am happy to report that they did just fine!2022-10-07_08-44-32
  3. Wednesday was grocery day. I went to two different stores and stocked up on different items.
  4. Thursday was an appointment for me with my Pharmacologist. She is a delight and helps me make sure that my meds don’t conflict with each other.
  5. Then it was onto my dentist. No cavities but I do have one tooth way in the back that needs to be scaled and deep cleaned below the gum line. Somehow I am thinking that this is going to hurt.

So this was my week. Busy. I plan a weekend filled with laundry, and I am actually going out to lunch with my dearest friend. I hope you all have a great weekend!

The Friday Five ~ September 30th

The Friday FiveI was sitting here when it dawned on me that tomorrow is Friday and I needed to sit down and write this week’s Friday Five. So, here goes.

  1. The week started out with Jack not feeling well. We were due to drive to Manchester for his bloodwork, but since he felt so sick, I rearranged his appointment.
  2. Then I became concerned about the hurricane heading for the West Coast of Florida. Right in the area where I lived for six years. I loved my home, my church, and my friends and family. But, I did not like the hurricanes, tornados, and wildfires that were yearly events. I also detest bugs, snakes, and alligators. After six years when I became best friends with my Exterminator, Jack and I moved back north.
  3. I am still waiting to hear from my cousin, Barbara and my dearest friend. Both were in the “Cone of Disaster”.
  4. Today we need to drive to Manchester for Jack’s bloodwork, and then back home. I am not looking forward to driving North on Rte 93 on a Friday afternoon.
  5. I will end the list with news on my heart. The news is good. Although there are two problems with my heart, it is not anything that is life threatening. I need to make a few adjustments in my life and then things will be good and life will go on quite happily!

So this was my week. I hope yours was good and that your weekend will be a nice one. And to all my Florida Friends and Family, I love you and I am praying very hard for you and for the entire State.

The Friday Five ~ September 23rd

The Friday FiveA lot went on this week, and I either contributed something to the day, took blissful naps, or watched Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.  In any case, here is this week’s Friday Five.

  1. I had a relapse of my pneumonia. Back to the Walk-In Clinic I went and I am back on antibiotics and cough pills. Today, (Thursday evening) I am feeling better. Hopefully this will do it and my health will be restored!
  2. Last night shortly after 11:00, Lili went crazy. Something had flipped on our motion detector lights, and although we couldn’t see much, both Lili and Heidi could. I got out my good flashlight and pointed it up the hill. There, caught in the beam of my light, were the eyes of a grown Fox. We have apples dropping from the trees and I guess that the Fox had a nice feed.
  3. I downloaded a program called Telegram about a month ago. Yesterday an email from a friend arrived and after that Bitcoin crap began popping up. I searched my mind, and did scans with my antivirus and malware programs, but nothing was working. The next morning as my computer started up, as soon as Telegram loaded, the Bitcoin pop-ups began. So, I did a search on how to get Telegram off my machine (it was not easy!). But since I did and then cleaned my machine, all is once again well.
  4. I really admired all of the pomp and circumstance for the Queen’s Funeral. The pageantry, the music, the dress outfits for the Military, and of course the beautiful dresses of the Royal Family. I watched in wonder Prince William, and Princess Catherine’s children, George and Charlotte attended and were very good.Wales
I’m not really sure how to put it really. Good doesn’t sum it up. They had parents who explained things well, and then a family to show them love and support. I think I was George’s age when my other grandmother died and I was very confused. No one explained. I was lucky to have my sister who held my hand.
  5. Lastly, I will end this week with my thoughts about Harry and Meghan. At their ages, they should have used better judgment. Both proclaimed their deep and abiding love for Queen Elizabeth, yet they ignored her invitations to come to Balmoral (excellent security). I believe that the Queen knew her time was getting closer. Reports from Buckingham Palace (allegedly) confirmed the invitations as well as the refusal because they were too busy. What I would give for one more moment with my Grandma. A nice cup of tea and cookies and the long chats we once shared. Harry and Meghan should get over themselves. The two of them are not the most important people on the earth. There are times in your life when you need to put the feelings of others before your own. The Queen loved them and her heart ached. I know she never said anything in the press. She respected the privacy of the family. How would they feel if Archie and Lily grew up, and in their final years basically flipped them off? At least now, that dear lady, who gave her life for her Country, can not be hurt anymore and will rest in peace.

Just my thoughts on this Friday.

The Friday Five ~ September 16th

The Friday Five

This week was an odd one for me. It seemed I had more chores to accomplish while balancing other strange happenings around the house.
So here we go with this week’s Friday Five.
1. After my Well pump died, we ran out of water again. While checking the house I found a seal inside the toilet tank that had dissolved causing the toilet to run continuously! Ugh!
2. At 8:00 AM, I called the Plumbers and made an appointment for the next day for them to come and fix this for me. A note to anyone who is young and looking to learn useful skills for their future life. Learn some basic plumbing and also learn where all the small filters are, that can get clogged if you lose water pressure.
3. I’ve been getting back on my feet after pneumonia. The only thing leftover is the cough, but even that is better. That’s been good as I have been able to cook a few meals and actually go out.
4. I went to my Ladies’ Meeting and after I drove to Super Walmart to stock up on Progresso soups. The store I shopped at during the Pandemic had this soup for $3.75 a can, and Super Walmart had the exact same soups for $2.18 a can! I loaded up as Jack has a can of soup every day. This is saving me a lot of money!
5. My last item this week is about this silly heart monitor that I have been wearing for two weeks! By the time you read this, the monitor will be off my chest and I will be taking a long, hot shower where I wash my hair and do a deep conditioning. Keeping this blasted thing dry has been such a challenge and under the device, my poor skin is red and raw. I have stuck it out because I do not want to have to do this again, anytime soon!
So that was the week that was. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and that the weather will be splendid wherever you are.

Rest In Peace, Queen Elizabeth

The Friday FiveThis week’s Friday Five will have my thoughts about the late Queen Elizabeth. All my life and before she was the Queen of England. Think about it. Most of us have not known a world without Queen Elizabeth in it.

  1. I recall seeing pictures of her at State functions when I was a little girl. She wore beautiful gowns and beautiful crowns.
  2. Queen Elizabeth loved dogs and horses. That really endeared her to me. I have always been an animal lover.
  3. Tea. Tea time was special for the Queen and for me as well. The Queen loved a good cup, and so did I. I think my grandmother (who reminded me of the Queen) made tea time, a time full of talk, sharing, and happiness.rs_1200x1200-220627144835-1200-Queen-Elizabeth-celebration
  4. You know, Queen Elizabeth lived through so many difficult times. She may not have always gotten everything 100% correct. But, you know what? She never gave up! She tried to be a rock for her family and for her Country.
  5. Rest in peace, to a woman who gave her all to her Country and to the world. Well done.

The Friday Five ~ September 2nd

The Friday FiveHey, it’s September! Can you believe that? I’m not sure I can. For me, it feels like the days are just slipping by. So let’s just get to the week’s Friday Five!

  1. Over the weekend I started to feel poorly. I figured it was nothing and sort of ignored it. But by Wednesday I was tired from coughing so hard, and just wanted to sleep.
  2. This presented a problem because my asthma kicked in and breathing was becoming problematic, as well as the cough, which left me breathless and with a headache that made me feel like my head would explode.
  3. So, I got myself together and went to the walk-in clinic. No Covid. Yay! But things were not good. Bronchitis and pneumonia. I was ordered to go home. To rest. To take my meds.
  4. I have slept the better part of two days and done almost nothing. I am still coughing and yes, feeling sick. But I am hopeful that the meds will help kick this.
  5. Meanwhile, tomorrow I get fitted for my heart monitor test. I have just one request for the rest of September: for my good health to return.

Have a great weekend and a happy, healthy, and safe Labor Day Weekend!

The Friday Five ~ August 26th

Friday FiveWow, this week sure sped by for me. I feel that the summer is slipping by and soon the air will become crisp, as the leaves fall. So here are the things I am thinking about this week.

  1.  I had two appointments this week. One with a group of my friends to chit chat, and the other with my friend and hairdresser to style my hair. She did an awesome job!
  2. I finally finished watching all 15 seasons of ER. I started watching when I was struggling with round two of Covid. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
  3. This week it was pleasantly quiet here in my town. No big traffic jams and no crowded stores. I’m sure this weekend will be crazy wild, as the end of the summer nears. Many people come up so they can close up their camps for the winter.
  4. Last night I was walking the dogs and Lili took off up the hill. Thankfully, I had Heidi on a leash and didn’t have to worry about her. I did worry that Lili would meet up with a porcupine or skunk and life would be instant chaos. Luckily, she came back in short order.
  5. This weekend is the usual. Laundry, cleaning and napping. Oh, how I love a good nap!

The Friday Five ~ August 19th

Friday FiveOnce again, the week flew by. I had only one appointment, and other than that, I spent time cleaning and visiting with my sister and brother-in-law. So here’s this week’s Friday Five.

  1. My sister arrived on Monday and luckily, we have an area to park their camper. We got it all set up and they have their own little spot!
  2. I made a big dinner on Tuesday. An oven-roasted beef. Along the lines of Prime Rib. We got local corn on the cob and my favorite California New Potatoes. Yum!
  3. Wednesday I had my appointment and that went well. Mel and Ron also made dinner which was great! Honestly, after two years of doing all the cooking, I am grateful when anyone else but me does the cooking!
  4. I have a Contractor coming on Saturday to look over the exterior of our house. I know I need a new roof and I also need repairs done to the trim and porch windows. I’m determined.
  5. Heidi has been so sweet to me. When I am sitting or napping, she is right there with me. By the way, she will be a year old on October 21st.

Have a great weekend!

The Friday Five ~ August 12th

The Friday FiveThe week flew by and now here we are and it’s Friday. Wow! That sure went quickly! I could write an encyclopedia about the week, instead, I will select the top Five!

  1. My Cell Phone finally arrived and after trying to get the darn thing to work, I went to Verizon, and a nice young man got all my stuff transferred. Yay! I will say, this whole phone replacement from the Insurance Co. was more of a pain in the neck than simply going out and buying a new phone. *Groan*
  2. The heat finally broke on Thursday, but not before leaving me with a heat rash that has exacerbated my Eczema.
  3. Today, Friday is a very busy day for me and Heidi. I’m driving Heidi to the Doggy Beauty Salon near my daughter. Mandy uses this woman for her American Eskimo Dog, Winter. So I am hoping all will go well and that Miss Heidi who hates to have her nails clipped, will enjoy a good pedicure.
  4. While Heidi is getting beautiful, I go to see my Glaucoma doctor for an exam. Then off to see my Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. And since the eczema is bad, I’m swinging in to check with the dermatologist. (Also my yearly skin cancer exam.)
  5. I will stop to get Heidi, and then we are off to Mandy’s house for a visit with the kids, Matt, and their two dogs. We’re staying overnight and I’ll come back home on Saturday.

So that’s the week that was. Hope your weekend will be a great one!

Friday Five ~ August 5th

Friday FiveThis week sped by. Not only that, but it is now August! Now how did that happen? Here we go with this week’s Friday Five.

2022-07-07_07-48-08

  1. It has been so dry and so hot this week. Perhaps that’s not the best way to put it. The humidity has been on the same level as Florida (super uncomfortable) but we have had very little rain. In any case, I am grateful for our air conditioners!
  2. I had to drive 57 miles down to the VA for blood work on Tuesday. And then 57 miles back home. The blood test was important, and the news about my blood levels is great, so it was worth the drive.
  3. It was beautiful that day and I enjoyed the ride. I stopped to pick up groceries at Market Basket. They were having a sale on two of Jack’s favorite soups, and I was able to stock up. At our local store soup has risen to $3.25 a can. That is crazy and unacceptable. Market Basket had this soup for $2.25 a can!
  4. I also got gas. I paid $3.82 a gallon. I was feeling a bit ticked off because after 20 years they have come up with a new traffic pattern. There were no signs directing you either. I drove around and around until I finally figured it out. I did complain and explained that they need a new sign which reads “Gas: New Traffic Pattern“. You see, they are the cheapest place around for gas and they are inundated with customers.
  5. Lastly, a few days ago I took my cell phone out of my purse and the phone screen had a crack! I drove to Verizon and discovered the Screen Protector was two months out of warranty. I called a local Mr. Fix It, who wanted $150.00 to repair it, and then I called the insurance I have through Verizon who offered me a $29.00 repair, (but my phone would be gone for over a week) or a replacement for $150.00. They would ship it to me overnight. That was my choice.  This morning I got an update. My new phone is delayed. Ugh!

So that was my week. It looks like the next few days will be hot, hot, hot, with a side of spot showers.

Enjoy your weekend wherever you are!
