What A Day

In anticipation of puppies arriving very soon, Hubby and I took to the Market and did our fair share of buying. I stocked up on dog food and puppy food, and yes, I picked up my glasses.

So, here they are. What do I think? I think it is wonderful to be able to see again!

We got home and I found some beautiful pictures waiting for me of Ali and her very own little girl, Faith. Faith’s Mom is a professional photographer in Michigan and as you can see she did a great job with these!

When I saw these pictures I started to cry with happiness. Ali has a great life with Faith and her parents. She is greatly loved and then she is a real dynamo out in the field learning to track with her Dad. Thank you so much for these great pictures!

Greta is getting bigger by the second. Since today was in the upper 90’s, we had our air conditioners going just to keep my little princess cool and comfortable!

She is so close to having her x-rays and I am just dying to know how many babies she has in there.

A New Recipe

It was another hot and humid day here in paradise. So what did I do?  Not a whole lot. I did manage one load of laundry, the cleaning up of three meals and the feeding of Hubby and the dogs. I also had an idea for a salad and I tried it out.

Green Bean and Cherry Tomato Salad

4 cups of fresh green beans

1 cup of cherry tomatoes sliced in half

1 & 1/2 cups of fat free Feta cheese

1/2 cup Fat Free Balsamic and Basil Vinaigrette

I cooked the green beans and drained then, tossed in everything and blended it by tossing with two spoons. It was great hot, but I am thinking that tomorrow the left overs will be even better.

The Opticians office called and my glasses are ready for pick up. Since Hubby has an appointment today, I will tag along with him and pick them up.

Greta keeps getting bigger. I think soon she will just pop! In this heat about all she wants to do is lay down on the floors in the air conditioning.

Friday and the x-rays that will be taken then, just can’t come soon enough!

Hot Belly Days!

I woke Sunday morning and looked over at Hubby, but what did I see? My big girl, Greta rolled up on her back with her gigantic belly sticking up in the air. She looked comfortable, and I swear, she was smiling at me.

Aug 16 002

I patted her belly and then gently lifted her up and placed her on the floor. I don’t want her jumping around in her “condition”.

We’re having another high humidity, high temperature day. Anyone who has been pregnant in the summer can relate to Greta’s plight. I turned on the air conditioning about 10 AM just to help keep her comfortable.

She went out, and usually enjoys lying in the sun, but as soon as she was done with her business she came right back to the door and wanted to come in.

I got her to lie down on my chair so that I could take this picture. It shows pretty clearly that she now has a 24 inch waist! Wow!

I did get her out in the yard and I played ball with her for a while. She loves to run after the ball and then bring it back. I always know when she has had enough because she escapes up under the Peach tree and lies down.

Just a few more days until the x-rays. I think I shall go crazy waiting for that! Best of all, the Vet has a digital x-ray machine so I will be getting the x-rays on a CD and can report in on Saturday with pictures of the unborn puppies!

Have a great week everyone!

Kick, Kick, Kick!

My day started at 5:30 AM. Greta was restless and wanted to go out, so all the dogs got up and out we went to commune with nature. Now I have nothing against the beauty of Mother Nature on a warm August morning, but 5:30? Bah!

We came back in and I told the dogs to come back to bed with me, because Mama needed her beauty sleep!

They let me sleep until 6:30 and then they all demanded that I get myself out of bed and start the coffee. No, they didn’t need to go out, no they didn’t want to do very much at all, but letting me sleep in was not on the docket!

I sipped my coffee while Greta demanded that I pay attention to her. She wasn’t feeling too well. I think the babies kicking was bothering her. As she lay across my lap, close to my stomach, I could feel the babies kicking her! It was amazing!

She spent most of the morning feeling sorry for herself, but by noon she had perked up and was back to her normal self. I gave all the dogs compressed rawhide bones and they each took their bone to a corner of the family room and spent several hours chewing them.

I’m starting to think that I should probably set up the puppy room again. I want Greta to understand that this is her special place.

Later in the day the pups started kicking again. Now Greta is simply lying on her side, resigned to the fact that she can’t escape the little monsters!

Kick, kick, kick!!!

Busy-Ness

The day dawned bright, but quickly I found the clouds moving in. The weather held off long enough to have a nice barbecue out on the patio, and actually we were able to spend quite a bit of time there before coming in to escape the darkening skies and brief showers.

These are our friends from Florida with their son and daughter in-law. So nice to have them with us for the night.

As we sat talking I looked down and saw Greta. My Lord, she is getting so big!

Three weeks left until she has her babies! I can hardly wait!

Got Milk?

The day dawned early and the dogs and I were up and outside. While they ran around and I stumbled about trying to drink my coffee and wake up. Thankfully, the caffeine kicked in and I began to come to.

Breakfast was made, dogs were fed too, and then I went about running errands with Gail. Post Office, Dry Cleaners, and UPS. Everything went well, and then we got home with plenty of time to make a great light lunch.

After lunch I was reaching down to pat Greta’s growing belly when Hubby told me that she’s got milk.

Milk? Already?

Sure enough, I checked and Greta is all ready to nurse her babies! Amazing how quickly it has come on with her second pregnancy.

Aug 4 009

It won’t be long now until we have to set up the puppy room, yet again to prepare for another litter of wild and wonderful dackel babies!!!

Anneliese is returning to her usual self. She is losing the baby weight, and once again acting like a puppy herself!

Aug 4 002

So now I start letting people know that I’ll have puppies ready to go in November. I’m also going to a workshop on Saturday to learn more about training puppies for tracking. It should be interesting.

Gail leaves me tomorrow. I’ll be driving her to the airport in the morning for her trip home. It will seem so strange when she has left us. It’s been so much fun having her around!

A Little Lobster, Anyone?

Sunday, Gail and I decided to do the Outlet Mall. I strapped on my comfortable walking shoes, and easy off and on clothes (quick change for trying on new things) and off we went. It was a cloudy day with a forecast of rain, so the place was mobbed! I found a good spot to park, and off we went. “Jockey”, “Liz Claiborne”, “Jones New York”, and “Easy Spirit” shoe stores. I was careful, thoughtful and got some very good deals!

By noon we were feeling tired and needed a place to sit down, so we went over to a Chinese Restaurant and ordered our meals. They were so yummy, and the green tea, hot and delicious!

After lunch we stopped at one more shop and then drove over to my favorite grocery store. Gail had hinted that she would love to have more Lobster, and when we saw this sign:

Aug 2

(taken with my handy, dandy little Canon Powershot)

I knew we were destined for boiled lobsters for our dinner!

I’m resting up a bit now before I tackle those ferocious beasts! You know it’s is so difficult to wrestle them into the pot! (lol!) I’m also cooking zucchini and summer squash from our garden.

The latest Greta news is, she has cut down on how much she can actually eat at a meal, so I will have to feed her a couple of times a day so she gets all that she needs. Usually Greta is a fierce eater and could devour an entire cow! However, now that she has growing babies there isn’t the room in her stomach.

Have a great week everyone!

She’s looking Pregnant & Update On Baerbel

Last night I got an email from Baerbel’s new owners. Not only an email but wonderful pictures of Baerbel and her new children.

baerbel, Joe, Alexander and Eliza 7-25-09 eliza and Baerbel 7-25-09

Meet Alexander and Eliza. Baerbel’s new family! Don’t they look happy?

Baerbel is happy and doing well. The kids love her and things are going well for her. I am so happy for them all.

Next we have a picture of my sweetie, Greta. Here she is 1 month from her due date! Can you believe that?

Aug 1 Pregnant Greta

Here is a picture from before she got pregnant. What do you think?

greta pictures

I wonder how many babies she has coming this time? What do you think? Leave your guesses in the comment section.

So today was much quieter than yesterday. No broken down cars, and just a nice simple day.

Happy Sunday everyone!

And Greta Is….

PREGNANT!!!

Greta Mama

I am so happy for her! I had worried that perhaps she would not be able to have another litter, and that would be a shame. Her puppies are beautiful and she is an excellent mother.

I have to give her boyfriend, Bernie an A+ here. Greta was not an easy girl for Bernie, but he did not give up! What a stud! They do make an excellent couple, and their babies are terrific from their first litter. After all could they get any better than Anneliese and Arnie?

The Vets today said that she is healthy and well and all is right. She goes back in three and a half weeks for her x-rays to determine how many little babies she has inside there. Should we start a pool?

Well I am a happy Mommy. More puppies to watch grow and to teach all about life, tracking and loving.

Puppies, Movies & Pregnant Dogs

Today I received updates and pictures of my two boys, Bogart and Baron. They are both doing well, and changing each and every day. Bogey looks so much like his Uncle Arnie. Quite a handsome fellow. His mom, Alexandra Daley-Clark sent me these pictures of her boy.

Bogart 11 weeks

Bogart 13 weeks

He is a cutie and Alex is a terrific photographer! Thanks for the great shots.

Then I heard from Baron’s new family. I looked at the pictures and thought, “Wow! He looks a lot like his Mom!”

Baron 13 weeks

He is happy with his new family and having a great time. He even went swimming the other day!

Baron 7 27a

It make me smile and feel so great to see these guys doing so well. Thanks for the pictures and keep them coming!

**********

Gail and I went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Wow was that good. I am so glad that we had our Harry Potter film festival over the weekend, so we knew everything up to the start of the movie.

Half Blood Prince

I suggest if you haven’t seen the movies in a while, watch them before you go. It really helps to make sense of it all.

After all, we are just mere “muggles”! Ha!

Tuesday morning at 11:30 we take Greta to the Vet’s for her pre-natal exam. I have my fingers crossed that she is, in fact, pregnant.
