Frozen Toes

It’s been very cold here in New Hampshire the last few days. It’s been near 0 degrees (F), with high winds. I think Hubby said that our wind chill this morning was minus 52 degrees (F!). Yeah, that’s cold.

We’ve had fires in the hearth and dressed warmly, but the tough part are the dogs. Now I have little doggy sweaters for them, but the problem is that they go running around and their feet get frozen!

This morning Anneliese went running around and suddenly she stopped and looked at the house. Panic filled her little face. She lifted one front paw and held it in the air.

Frozen!

So I went outside and picked her up and carried her shaking body inside. I cuddled her close and waited for the shaking to stop. Five minutes later, she wanted to go outside again. The girl is crazy!

It warmed up as the day progressed. A heatwave, as it got up to 22 degrees! However, once the sun went down, so did the temperature!

Yes, it is winter. Now that I have put away all my Christmas decorations, it just looks like a cold and gray winter day.

**sigh**

  1. I love the snowy Pup! Poor little thing though. You need little booties for their feet! Can you imagine putting all of them on all of those little feet everytime they wanted to go out? LOL! Love YOU, Mel

  2. Mine are coming DOWN today! I can’t wait to have my “regular” house back! None of our animals are staying out the way they do when the weather is warm — but Freedom (who only weighs about 7 or 8 pounds and really is an OUTdoor cat) is going nuts! She wants desperately to be OUT – but the minute you open the door she remembers… and backs away. She doesn’t use the litter box – so she really HAS to go out – but man she doesn’t want to. She’s torn! I imagine that’s how Anneliese feels!

  3. Poor little thing ! She should wear little boots ! Today it was – 7°C (19 F) but sunny and no snow. I still haven’t seen snow. Yesterday it started a bit but then stopped.
I don’t get along with your degrees ! Converting 0 °F to °C would make 17° (??)and that’s rather warm and – 57 F would make – 49°C ! Is that possible ?? Then you should build igloos in your garden !

  4. Oh my goodness, poor Anneliese! She looked absolutely adorable in the snow…good thing “mommy” warmed her up! So you wish for a new litter of puppies this year huh?? And how many will you keep??? lol…Stay warm and healthy during this bitter cold winter! Sending you prayers and love dear friend

  5. Talk about polar opposites!!!

Yesterday, we had a top of 39c at home, and today, we’re expecting 41! Right now (10.31am) it is already 31c!!!!

your puppies are getting sore feet from cold whilst ours are from the heat!!!
