I’ve written before that Hubby was an airline pilot. He’s been retired now for several years, as there is mandatory retirement for commercial pilots at the age of 60.
Yesterday we went to a “Fly In”. It’s a barbecue at a small airport nearby, where old “fly boys” meet to talk about the old days. Some flew in, in their small private planes,
others, like us, drove in.
There was a good group this year, as the day was bright, sunny and warm. Many people brought their grandchildren and stood next to the runway watching the planes land or take off.
Our friend, George, flew up from southern New Hampshire in his 1950 Cessna 170.
There were also two Piper cubs.
A Russian plane that flew passengers in Lithuania.
A Waco.
And several RV’s. These small planes are built from kits and fly like the wind!
We had a great time, talking about the old days, and really enjoyed the sunshine.
Sounds like a really neat event, MB. What a variety of interesting planes!!

My neighbour flies gliders and I went up with him last year. That was a lot of fun. The Juniorette wants to try this too!
Looks like you guys had a great day out! 🙂
Glad you had a good time! I liked the Waco, pretty plane!
Oh what fun. I bet those guys got some stories to tell!
That sounds like such a wonderful day. Awesome. I’m sending my friend Stacie to come check out the planes as she is in the process of getting her license.

What a fun-filled day of wings and nostalgia! I like the Classic Crystal – so cool.

Sounds like a great time!!! My Uncle has his own plane now (that he built), and does trips all the time including to the club events. Must be cool. 🙂
