I’ve got a new theory. I was looking at my fingernails today and I noticed that they have grown lovely and long. I try pretty hard to grow them out, but try as I might, they are always breaking. However, right now, the second week into November, my fingernails have never looked better.
Thinking back, it was a year ago that I made the same observation. I remember taking pictures then too, because I just knew that in no time the nails would be snapping like dried twigs.
So why is it, that each November I find my nails looking so good?
Well, I finally figured it out. It’s Halloween! Every year around the middle of October I buy Halloween candy. Of course, you all know my weakness for chocolate, so I tend to dip into the candy basket a little too much. Then I have to buy more candy for the kids, who never do come to my door!
So here is the answer to my question. The reason my nails grow long and lovely in November is….. because of all the chocolate I eat in October!
I know, you are all laughing, right? This morning as Hubby and I drove to the supermarket I presented my theory to him.
“Honestly, Hon, I think this chocolate thing is the reason my nails are so strong and haven’t been snapping off”.
I expected a *snort*, perhaps a guffaw, but he looked down at his nails for a moment and exclaimed that he hadn’t had a broken nail either, and he had been dipping into the chocolate too!
So there you have it Fellow Bloggers. Do not go and ingest endless amounts of tasteless gelatin or waste your money on all those bottles of nail strengthener when you can have beautiful nails the natural way.
Eat Chocolate!!!
You know…my nails are looking great, too. Weird!
I just broke a nail tonight and you know what? I gave up chocolate…you may be on to something here….
Wow, I’ll have to try this out because my nails have been just awful lately. And chocolate has SO many health benefits, right?
Maybe that explains the strength of my nails?? hmmm….
Hope you have a great day! Enjoy the day today with no rain–(or very little)–sounds like we have a lot more on the way!
Love you,
Mandy
LOL…I think I’d like to test that hypothesis!!! LOL.

Oh yes…I’m definitely on board with your theory.
(Of course, it can’t have anything to do with the fact that — with the cold weather — you are not outside doing all that extensive gardening and work with your various crops. Nawww – that has nothing to do with it………..)

linda, who is a true blue chocoholic,,,,and who has great nails, except for the few that I pulled off too close to the quick…….but they don’t count.
Well if that’s just not the best excuse ever to indulge – I don’t know what is!!
OK, it’s really only a hypothesis until it has been rigorously tested … time for me to break out the Belgian choclates I picked up this weekend.
I read a few days ago that chocolate (darker the better) is very good for your heart.
Chocolate must be the new ‘Superfood’! 🙂
Sounds good to me. Do you think there’s any connection between how bad my nails look whenever I try to exercise??? Obviously that means that we should all eat more chocolate and exercise much less;)
My friend, who has a splendid figure and is very healthy but hats pills, eats a bit of dark chocolate.every.evening. For minerals and all kinds of good stuff. I’d better believe her! and you!
that should read: she hates pills…woops!
As if I needed any encouragement to eat chocolate :-).
Any chance you’re drinking more milk than usual when you’re eating all that extra chocolate? 🙂
