It’s that time of year, when we start thinking about cooking wonderful treats. This recipe has been in my family for generations!
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter flavored Crisco (shortening)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
1 large package chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Mix all ingredients (except chocolate chips & nuts) thoroughly and spread evenly in large greased and floured, jelly roll pan. Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 15-20 minutes, or until browned. Cool on a wire rack.
Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler, spread melted chocolate over the top of the bar mixture, sprinkle with nuts and finish cooling in the refrigerator. Cut into squares and serve.
I am def trying this when I am done exams, I love toffee!!!
It does sound yummy, I think. But what on earth is that Crisco? And what kind of chocolate chips? And nuts? Almonds or hazelnuts?
Sometimes there is a bit difficult to translate certain recipes from different countries.
Since this has been in your family for generations I figure that it must be really good to survive! *lol*
Yummy! I’m going to try this. Definitely!
Mmm…I’m invited for afternoon coffee on Thursday and I think I’ll be making these to take with me. Or else I’ll just make them and eat them all myself before I go! 🙂
I’m going to have to try that next week when baking a few of my own, so thanks for the new recipe idea.
I am visiting from Pam’s looking for your 6 weird things post that she tagged you with. Instead, I find a wonderful recipe for Toffee Bars and a Puppy ready to Pop… I’ll be back.
