Laundry Boredom

I decided today to catch up on some over due laundry chores. I needed to wash the sofa cover, and I needed to wash and dry and hang up all my winter turtlenecks. I live in turtleneck tops in the winter. Those and wool sweaters. Yesterday I handled all the wool, today all the turtlenecks.

I happily was ironing in my laundry room, listening to music while the washer droned on cleaning my clothes.

I thought to myself, how boring is this?

Then my phone rang and it was my girlfriend, Suzan whom I haven’t seen in a very long time. She was just down the street and wanted to stop in. I was thrilled!!!

She was up with her Mom, and they came and we talked for a while. Not long enough though, and we really need to get together again soon! I’m not sure she realized how it brightened my day to see her, but I am still smiling.

Suzan and I raised our kids together way back when. Our children are all grown now and Suzan even has a few grand-kids, but we, of course, are still the same girls we always were and chatting together felt so comfortable. She is one of those people that I always feel completely relaxed and at home with.

All too soon it was time for them to go, and we packed them off with apples from the orchard and kisses from the pups.

Now it’s back to laundry.

I still have not figured out if we are the cleanest people around or the dirtiest. You see we have a ton of laundry and a ton of ironing, and it’s just the two of us.

I go for the cleanest!

  1. What a nice interruption ! I don’t iron anymore ! since we are both retired I only buy stuff which doesn’t need to be ironed ! Mr. Gattino is running around in jeans and T-shirts or sweaters me the same and that doesn’t need any ironing when it comes out of the dryer. And when he has to get well dressed, the trousers are anyway for the dry cleaning ! I too am retired after all !

  2. AND I had a good friend here for the weekend. Lots of catching up and talking, a walk on the beach, and then some good Korean food. We took in my Grandsons football game too. Then a birthday party on Sunday. All in all a good weekend. Love YOU, Mel

  3. I am impressed with your laundry skills. I do not iron. Anything. When we moved house, the removal men lost the box with our iron in it. It took me 3 months to realise.

  4. Hi Mom,
So sorry to hear that Em’s family completed their move this weekend. I can only imagine how much you will miss her!

Busy weekend! Met up with some of M’s friends in Boston on Friday night, and used my hotel points to rent us a nice room for the evening. Then, I took M to a rugby game of BC vs Yale on Saturday as a surprise for his birthday! The rest of the weekend we layed pretty low, which was nice, and I think exactly what we both needed.

    Lots of love,

    Mandy

  5. MUST be cleanest! I don’t DO ironing… but I always have piles of laundry either to do or to fold and put away… as a matter of fact, I should be doing that NOW instead of being here! LOL!

  6. I iron, too….and get the same reaction as you are getting. Maybe next week it will be cooler here. Last Saturday it got up to 100 again. I’m ready for some cool. 🙂

  7. Great interruption. it should always be like that when doing boring things. Even though I avoid buying clothes that must be ironed…. I hate ironing.

Oh, you just reminded me that it’s time to do some laundry over here too, the laundry basket is flooding…. *giggles*

  8. I detest ironing, and ANY distraction is always welcomed…

And isn’t it great, when it is a friend want to call in for a cuppa!!!

Hope it was a great visit, and that the ironing got all sorted…
