De-lurking

It’s been brought to my attention, that there are many readers who read, but do not comment. So, every once in a while we have a “Delurking Week”.

The cool kids, like my cousin Janet and Miss Zoot are doing it, so please join us, for what could become an annual event.

Delurking is a time when we beg ask our readers to drop us a comment and say hello. It doesn’t have to be a long comment. Even a Hi! will do. Just so I know you are out there and reading! LOL

So please take a moment and drop me a note!

Thanks!

  1. What a good idea! My stats are… well… in honesty, I have two things I can say about my stats… I can claim almost four-thousand hits per day on my blog (which is a bloated over-estimate that includes “refreshes”, failed spam-attacks, search engine spiders, et al… but when you filter these, I get about 1,200 to 1,300 visitors a day… and if I’m lucky, between ZERO and seventeen comments on any particular entry.

I suppose, if you think of a sports stadium… and count the number of people who are there “just to watch and enjoy” vs. the “hard core fans”, this number holds true “in real life”…

How many people watch talk shows with call-in segments without calling in? How many people listen to talk radio without picking up the phone or sending an e-mail?

I do think about one thing though… if a “De-Lurking Meme” was to spread, would it not become like the failed “Click ‘n Comment Monday” thing? Remember that? I ended up BEGGING people NOT to “Click ‘n Comment” because pretty much everyone was simply saying, “HERE FOR CNC MONDAY!” only… and that was aggravating! I prefer people who can read…

  2. I honnestly never payed attention to what your reader above me says. But I remember this Click & Comment thing. I always comment otherwise I wouldn’t read the post.

  3. Well I am here as usual. I do lurk a bit and comment seldom but I enjoy reading you daily. You are definately at the top of my blog list! You are such a good and gentle read. Starts my day off fine. Keep up the good work.

  4. I’m still around – lurking most days – bit of a slacker that I am. No excuses, just terribly lazy at hitting the comment link to leave my 2 cents. :\

  5. Happy De-Lurking Day! Thanks for the linky love too! It’s like a double-dose of awesome. I come to comment and I see my name in the entry! woo hoo!

  6. …Guilty! Well, you know me already, I used to comment from time to time, but I haven’t dropped a line in a while, even though I read you everyday. So many things going on with my life (health problems…it’s been a very bad year for me) and your blog always helps me smile and makes me feel good, but most times I’m not in the mood for posting. Does it make any sense? Thank you for sharing though…and now you know I’m ALWAYS reading even though I don’t comment! Love you!

  7. I wanted to leave a comment at your cousin’s…and the system tells me I am blacklisted!! ::shock::
I am going back and trying it again…

  8. Well, I guess there are a lot of shy, lazy, not in the mood, having problem with the language, speachless lurkers 😀

I think that a lot of the visitor to my blog have ended up there through Google searches – and only interested in that search and not to socialize with me 🙂

Never the less, I always love when people comment, so this de-lurk thingy is gooood!

Oh, btw: I have the Swedish pancake recipe up now 🙂

  9. Yup! I am a reader, not much of a commenter. So, here goes Hi! Hi! Hi! New England looks great, hope to see you next spring. Love, Carol

  10. Well, I thought I left you a message here already… the comment obviously didn’t stick.
    Anyways, again… you know that I read 🙂 … and comment! 🙂

  11. Well, you know me but I HAVE been kind of semi-lurking these days. Just not enough time or energy to catch up with all my bloggy friends! 🙂
