Okay, Sometimes Life Is Weird

I don’t claim to be perfect. In fact if I ever used my name and the word ‘perfect’ in the same sentence my friends and family would all burst out laughing! But today I topped even some of my finest moments. Here’s how it went.

I woke up and grabbed my robe, silly medical boot and my rain boot and put them on. I hobbled from our bedroom into the family room. I had expected to see rain coming down, as the forecast from the night before said “RAIN”! This is what I saw:

In the end we had 9 inches of fresh, heavy snow!

I bundled myself up and walked the pups and came in and after the coffee was done, made breakfast for Hubby and myself. I mentioned that I’d take the Jeep today because I had a hairdressers appointment, but when Hubby looked outside and saw that it was starting to ice, he said he wanted to take me.

My appointment was for 10 o’clock, so about 9:15 we got the three dachshunds into their sweaters and got into the Jeep to go to the next town where my hair dresser has her salon.

It was such a pretty ride, and we got there just before the appointment. So we sat waiting for the salon to open. But no one came. Finally Hubby asked if I was sure my appointment was at 10. I opened my purse and took out my pocket calendar and looked. The appointment was for the next day at 10AM!

Silently, Hubby started the car and we began to drive home. I could tell by his silence that he was annoyed. I smiled weakly and said, “Well, look at the nice ride we had with the dachshunds, and we got to see the beauty of this snowy day!” I’m not sure he was thinking along those lines.

We stopped down town and picked up the mail. Today we did not have to work at finding a parking place as there were no other crazy people like me on the street. We also stopped at the dry cleaners and picked up Hubby’s suit, and the hardware store to show off the pups, before coming home.

Then Hubby got busy with his ancient, but mostly reliable snowblower, and worked over our 500 foot driveway.

I did redeem myself this evening though, while cooking dinner I was able to find the problem on Hubby’s computer and get it fixed for him.

I’m not usually such a space cadet, honestly.

Maybe it was the snow!

  1. At least you didn’t go your merry way and miss the appointment and remember it the day after…. I did that two months ago. This way you will still get to go tomorrow and get your hair done, maybe feel a little spacy, but you’ll be there.

  2. Hah! I think we may be distantly related! I am, after all, the woman who spent an hour at the supermarket one Saturday, doing the weekly shop, then half an hour back home unloading it and putting it away before sitting down just in time to see the delivery van from the supermarket pull up with the shopping I had ordered online three days earlier and forgotten about.

  3. Funny you should write this right now. You see Mr Lifecruiser had a doctors appointment yesterday and he did have one exactly one year ago too. We remember this very well, because last year when we arrived there – we turned out to be a day early! *giggles*

And this turned out to be exactly one year ago, because it was on the special day when we Swedes starts to eat the Swedish Semla, that creamy bun, remember? And the nurse then said to us to go and get some Semla instead for meeting the doc, which we tought was an excellent suggestion…

Some would say it’s the age, but I claim that we just have a little bit overloaded brains…. *giggles*

  4. Hi Mom,
Well, hope your hair appt goes well this morning, then! Lol. That is so funny! Definitely something I could do myself!

So, more snow today too? I’m probably going to work from home because I hear we will get another 6 or so inches tomorrow.

    Love you lots,
    Mandy

  5. I don’t even remember when I saw only half of this snow !! That’s terrible ! Nobody would be able to get out of the house, we are just not equipped for that. Don’t worry with mixing up appointments, it happens to me too. Last time I mixed up a dentist appointment !

  6. Let it snow let it snow let it snow…cound your blessings. you will remember the snowy day with your cute dauchs in their sweaters. Enjoy life and take advantage of what you get!! Its a mystery and its beautiful!

  7. First of all: congrats with your new blog home – looks so cosy! and your new profile pics (in the same robe?)

Then the snow – you know I love it and miss it and envy you! As you have seen in my last post from Oslo, Norway, we have to bring in snow from the mountains around the city!

PS: Please keep us posted about your appointment next week 😉
