Strangers?

A package arrived today from my friends in Sydney, Australia. Two surprises were inside for me. I was thrilled because I didn’t expect this. After all, I have never personally met Bernie & Louise, but we have become friends by sharing our lives on our blogs.

It’s a strange thing, isn’t it, how close you can become to people that you have never met, but read over time.

I started thinking about this as the day went on. You see, as we write our blogs, and share our lives, our sadness’s and our happiness’s, we do develop friendships that are not stifled by the miles that separate us.

What a wonderful thing that is.

You learn so much about about other countries, traditions, cultures and see the most beautiful pictures too! But best of all, you begin to understand that as different as we all are, we share some very basic things.

The love of our families and friends. The enjoyment of the world around us, and the beauty of the nature where we live. By sharing these things we see just how much we are alike.

So if you are a stranger reading me for the first time, welcome!!! I hope you will take some time, read more and check back.

And for those of you who already know me, thanks for being such good and faithful readers.

There are no strangers here, just new friends!

  1. I feel exactly the same ! and on top I never feel alone even when my “physical” friends are not there I just have to connect myself to the world and find all my “virtual” friends ! There is however sometimes a surprise i.e. I correspond with somebody, we talk about our lives etc and of course you make yourself a picture of this person (just like when you read a book) and then you see a picture and she is completely different of what you had imagined and if you hear the voice or the laughter you can sometimes really be troubled !!

  2. Hello to old and new friends, “Make new Friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other Gold.” Love YOU, Mel

  3. That is sO true! It really is quite amazing! And when you finally DO get to meet some of the blogging friends – you don’t EVER feel like you’re meeting them for the first time! It’s so awesome.

  4. So true! I feel like I know the bloggers I read better than my face-to-face friends because I visit the blogs daily.

Can I save this post and use it as I study blogging and interpersonal relationships for my dissertation?
