Part 2: Boston to Washington DC to Atlanta

We knew that we would not make the flights leaving directly from Boston to Atlanta, so we threw caution to the winds and went over to the regional carrier for Delta and got seats to Washington, DC! Delta had the same thought for a few other passengers and so we saw 8 passengers from our canceled flight at the gate.

We were boarded on a CRJ-50 and once the door closed I heaved a sigh of relief, thinking that we were finally on our way.

We took off in the rain and wind and after a short time we hit some really  bad turbulence! In fact, the woman seated in front of us said quietly, “Oh, sweet Mother of God, we’re going to die!”

I sat there thinking that she might possibly be right, and I grabbed Hubby’s arm to calm my nerves! The turbulence went on for some time and I must admit that my life passed briefly in front of my eyes, before I heard Hubby mumble, “pull back on the power”, to the pilots in the cockpit, who I know could not hear him.

Then, just as if they had heard everything that he said, the power came back a bit and the plane stopped lurching around!

The flight was uneventful after that and we came in and landed at Reagan National Airport right on time.

We hopped onto the next flight to Atlanta, and I was excited by the prospect of flying up the Potomac  River as we took off! I had never done that before. We got down to Atlanta after our connecting flight to Columbus had departed, so we rented a car in Atlanta and drove the rest of the way. We actually made great time on the highway, and the weather here was beautiful, warm and bright!

When we got to our motel we discovered that we not only got breakfast each day, but dinner as well, and since we both were hungry and exhausted, and arrived just before they stopped serving, we sat down and ate supper before settling into our room.

We’re having a great time and just to show you one picture from our day today, here are Hubby and I at the National Infantry Museum. What a great place!

  2. What a great picture!!! I bet you wish hubby was flying the plane through that turbulence! Love YOU, Mel

  3. Geez, what an adventure ! I had such a flight once in my life when we took off in Chicago and went through 3 thunderstorms. Even the stewardesses turned green and the hand luggages fell out off their boxes in the plane !
Nice picture of both of you !
