Rainbows & Shopping

I was up at 6:30 today and the sky was so pretty and pink and blue. There were a few clouds and light rain. I glanced across the lake and saw this beautiful rainbow and came back inside, grabbed my camera and took a few shots.

I had a list of last minute items to get at the Outlet Mall today. I simply wasn’t moving very fast around here, and Hubby finally offered to drive me, which was great, but we did get off to a late start. I just could not seem to get out of my own way.

We left well after 2 in the afternoon and drove the 25 miles south to the Outlet Mall. I wanted to secure a pair of taupe dress shoes first thing. We went to three different shops and no one had a decent pair of shoes! They did have these things which I will call “slip on torturing devices”. I mean, honestly, how can women wear these things? Heels so high and toes so narrow that I felt as if I were in ancient China where women were still getting their feet wrapped! I have so many friends, and relatives with distorted feet from wearing these things. I simply couldn’t do it.

In shoes like those I saw myself quite clearly falling flat on my face in the middle of the ship. Probably toppling over the Captain or some vacationing aging couple.

Needless to say, I didn’t find any shoes.

I did, however, get the other things on my list, plus two Lobsters. And before you even ask, yes, the lobsters were delicious!

We got back home late, fed the dogs and I’m finally settling in to watch a little TV tonight before another early bedtime. This is going to be a busy week for me and I’m going to need all the rest and stamina that I can get.

How was your weekend?

  1. Mr. Gattino hates shopping and never comes with me. and if he comes with me for a special reason he gets on my nerves because he stands there as if planted almost turning his eyes to the ceiling. So what we are doing we separate and when we are both finished we meet again at the cashier !
You’ll find your shoes when you don’t thing about them !

  2. You can almost see a double rainbow in that picture, lovely.
Yesterday was church, Leaf work in the yard and grocery shopping. Someone took my carriage with my reusable shopping bags, I have the worst luck in stores, they did find them late last night so I’ll go pick them up today.
Watched the Patriots win! Worked on knitting a hat. Love YOU, Mel

  3. Hi Mom,

Gorgeous rainbow pic! I know what you mean–Saturday was a bit of a rough day for me too. I can’t believe Katie would be 30.

Lots of packing and cleaning this weekend, but still so much to do. I should be able to get the keys today! 🙂

    Lots of love,
    Mandy
    xoxo 🙂

  4. It has always been my experience that if I go shopping for a certain color shoe, I never find it! However, if I just go to look at shoes to see what’s there, I find six pairs I love! I hope you find something suitable before the cruise! And by the way… Dennis would RATHER go to church with me than SHOPPING!!!

  5. That’s it, I’m going to check Market Basket after work and see if they have lobsters on special and ask them to steam me a couple! Dad will be thrilled 🙂

  6. Shoes can be a pain in the *ss to find. I had to go to Italy to find some good ones for me, because I have narrow feet.

Luckily, Mr L loves to go shopping with me and quite often he finds the right items for me! He is GOLD.
