Thursday Thirteen

Feb 8 tt13

This is my work week. I don’t usually work, but I am helping a friend out, and actually I am thinking that if I can, I may get a part time job to help out with expenses. Anyway, here are thirteen things I think about, regarding working.

  1. I had to get up early! I am not one who enjoys getting up early. I bet I’m not the only one.
  2. I did my hair, and actually had to use the curling iron and hair spray to tame my mop. I wouldn’t want to look messy in a hair salon!
  3. Make up! Yes, I had to do my make up. I almost never wear make-up and I just hate putting it on!
  4. I made our breakfast, and emptied the dishwasher while I was doing this. I sort of hoped that Hubby would get the idea to fill in with the dirty dishes.
  5. Unfortunately, Hubby did not put the dishes into the dishwasher. I guess I need to mention it to him.
  6. I’d hoped that Hubby would volunteer to make the dinner. He didn’t, so you know who heated up the meal.
  7. The funny thing is, I will do it all over again tomorrow. Not so bad, really.
  8. I wondered how many people have jobs that they really love and yet still come home each day and cook meals for themselves and their families.
  9. I’ve tried to figure out what type of job would really make me happy.
  10. I haven’t seen an ad to become a member of the Royal Family, where you go around smiling, shaking hands and being waited on.
  11. I would think it would be fun to be an actress. Fancy clothes, hair styles, you know. Again, no one has asked.
  12. Meanwhile, I plan to lay out my clothes again tonight.
  13. Am I the only one who does that?

Thanksgiving

food-turkey

  1. Wednesday was preparing day.
  2. There was a lot of organizing.
  3. Dave and Isaiah came and the chopping began.
  4. Onions and celery, and carrots. Chestnuts were roasted and opened and then broken up for the dressing and the brussel sprouts.
  5. I made a great new recipe for pork loin roast.
  6. I wasn’t sure we would like it, but it came out well.
  7. I am posting it below.
  8. I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving.
  9. I hope you are surrounded by your loved ones, be they family or friends.
  10. Be sure to enjoy that which is special.
  11. The things that say Thanksgiving
  12. I’m doing a 1/4 cup of my favorite dinner dishes
  13. I’ll report tomorrow.

Scav Sat

This and that this week!

  1. I had to say good bye to a dear friend, as she moves south. I hope it won’t be for too long. I will really miss her!
  2. We grocery shopped on Tuesday and I could not believe the prices in the stores. They were so much higher than 10 days ago.
  3. We had a weird thing happen at Walmart. I went to pay for our purchase with my Amex Credit Card, and it was rejected!
  4. I was so puzzled, but I used my Visa card and all went well.
  5. Today I picked up the mail, and we got new Amex cards sent to us. I was puzzled as they had the same expiration dates!
  6. So, I called my American Express provider and asked what was going on.
  7. It turns out that our data had been compromised and that a whole block of us had to be issued new cards.
  8. So far I have not had any bad charges show up. They must have caught it it time.
  9. Meanwhile, Hubby and I spent the morning changing the numbers on all of our pre-paid accounts.
  10. This made me slightly crazy as my Facebook account was hacked yesterday and I had to fix all of that.
  11. I really hate the thought of malicious little hackers trying to rock my world…in a bad way!
  12. Friday is a girls day with Mandy and Savannah! Yay!!!
  13. We’re planning a Mall visit, as well as a trip to Trader Joes!

The Earth Moved!

  1. At 7:13 PM Tuesday Night, we had an earthquake!
  2. We were watching a rerun of NCIS LA at that moment.
  3. I could hear a roar in the distance, which I thought was a train.
  4. A second later, it sounded like the train was coming through the house.
  5. The walls shook.
  6. The dogs jumped up and barked!
  7. I jumped up, terrified!
  8. I asked Hubby what it was?
  9. He said he was sure it was an earthquake! Originally it was called 4.6 on the Richter Scale.
  10. earthquake

  11. We live approximately 45 miles from the epicenter.
  12. It only lasted a few seconds, but it felt longer!
  13. I’m still upset, even though they lowered the measurement to a 4.0!
  14. Guess that’s why I don’t live near an active fault line!

Or do I?

  1. I really dislike rainy days in the Autumn. Especially when the rain comes with fog!
  2. It seems like the Autumn is going very quickly.
  3. There are a ton of leaves now residing on the ground. It’s a carpet of color!
  4. Yesterday Hubby and I did our shopping.
  5. We make lists, so that we only go every ten days, and can get everything done at one time.
  6. With the price of gasoline right now $3.74 a gallon, we simply cannot go for a luxury ride any more.
  7. A few years ago, when gas was well under $2.00 a gallon, we often took rides, just for the heck of it.
  8. I will be voting this year in the hopes that my vote will help for a financial recovery for our country.
  9. It sort of makes me mad that in the last few years the wild spending means that my infant grand-daughter, already owes $50,000.00 in taxes!
  10. I will be happy when the next month is over and the election is behind us.
  11. I’m tired of the TV Commercials, the phone polls, and mailings.
  12. It’s chilly tonight.
  13. Think I’ll make a fire in the hearth!

I was thinking that I should put together my current 13 favorite TV shows. So as of September 27th, here they are.

  1. NCIS. I love the entire cast, and the writing just keeps getting better and better as the years have gone by!
  2. The Big Bang Theory. This is a great show too! I just love the hard to fit in “Smart Guys”. And the addition of Mayim Bialik, as Amy Farrah Fowler, just tickles me! At times, she is funnier than they are!
  3. Two Broke Girls. Another funny show. Max, the wise cracking “Cupcake Queen” and Caroline, the newly broke “Princess”.
  4. Mike & Molly. This is a great show and it demonstrates the depth of feelings that those of us with weight problems have. Mike and Molly, are so lovable!
  5. NCIS LA. Another great cast, with super writing and interesting episodes! I especially love, Hetty!
  6. The Good Wife. I am a late comer to that show, but I really like it. Julianna Margulies, does a great job juggling motherhood, being a lawyer and trying to figure out her relationship with her soon to be ex-husband.
  7. The Mentalist. I love the writing and the interesting plots. Great show!
  8. Person of Interest. Another interesting crime drama. Writing and acting are just great!
  9. Long Island Medium. Okay I admit, there are a few trash TV shows that I like and this is one of them! I would so love to have her do a reading for me.
  10. Say Yes To The Dress. I love this show because the brides are bride-zillas! They go into these fancy shops and announce their budget for a dress is 10 thousand dollars or even more! Let’s get real people!
  11. Ice Road Truckers! Yeah, baby, give me some Dalton Highway Blues! Blowing snow, and near zero visibility! Woo-hoo!
  12. Kathie Lee and Hoda! They are a breath of fresh air on Morning television! Both have been dealt some hard blows in their lives, but they refuse to let that keep them down!
  13. What Not To Wear. I live in mortal fear, that one day Clinton Kelly and Stacy London will jump out and demand all of my inappropriate clothes and re-do me!

There you go. A little view into the shows on TV that I like!

Here we go. Thirteen things that are happening around here right now!

  1. I went to Weight Watchers Class and I lost 3.2 pounds this week!!! Yay, me!
  2. It’s because the last two weeks I have weighed and measured everything I put in my mouth!
  3. I also made better choices. Instead of cheese and crackers and a glass of wine, I’m eating fruit and vegetables!
  4. I can actually zip my pants a lot more easily!
  5. I made Chili today from my own garden tomatoes and peppers!
  6. I froze three quarts and served the rest to Hubby for dinner!
  7. I ate roast chicken, Weight Watchers Potato Salad and Tomatoes!
  8. While I was chopping vegetables today, I watched the movie, “Hereafter”.
  9. I’d seen it before, but it speaks to me a little more each time I see it.
  10. My tooth is a little better. I have my fingers crossed that it will be okay and I can get it crowned, with no implant.
  11. Tomorrow I clean out the zucchini, summer squash, beans and some cucumbers from the garden. The vines are dead and so it’s time to start the cleaning process!
  12. We’re still getting tomatoes and butternut squash, but it seems like everything else has just stopped growing.
  13. Hubby’s fruit trees along the back of the land are getting chewed up by deer! We are gonna have to watch for them and shoo them away!

Today’s Thursday Thirteen, will be things I love about cruising.

First to get you into the mood, this classic song!

  1. Once I step on board the ship, I become a Pampered Princess! No dogs to walk!
  2. Each morning when I wake, there is coffee at my door.
  3. As I go through my day, people smile at me, and offer coffee, tea, or anything else my heart desires.
  4. I love having tea each afternoon. The servers all wear white gloves and it reminds me of days gone by with my grandmother.
  5. I love the sun. Even though I have to wear a ton of sunscreen and a hat. It’s okay.
  6. Swimming. I love the big pools. It’s so soothing.
  7. The movies on the Jumbo-tron screens! Fun! Movies under the stars.
  8. Someone to cook my breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  9. And then to clean it all up!
  10. Someone makes my bed too, and brings me clean towels several times a day!
  11. Sitting out on my own balcony sipping a cool beverage!
  12. The shore tours we take. Those are so interesting.
  13. But best of all, I love cruising with Hubby. He makes it all wonderful and special!

Thursday Thirteen

Scav Sat

This weeks Thursday Thirteen finds me selecting some of my favorite things about the Autumn. There is so much and so here we go!

  1. Leaves. My favorite color is the bright coral that we get after a good freeze. Sadly we have not had a freeze yet!
  2. The skies tend to have cloudy and a stormy look to them and somehow, I like this!
  3. When I step outside in the morning or evening, I smell the sweet scent of a wood burning stove. Love it!
  4. When we do get out first frost, which should happen any day now, I love stepping on the grass in the morning and having it crunch beneath my feet!
  5. I also love putting away our air conditioners. All of them, except my bedroom air conditioner. Oh I just love the noise, the fan and the way it ends an errant hot flash! lol!
  6. I love Thanksgiving!
  7. I love turkey with chestnut stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce.
  8. Butternut Squash, mashed potatoes and peas.
  9. Most of all, I love pumpkin pie!
  10. But usually Hubby wants an apple, so we have that.
  11. I love doing all the cooking too.
  12. Some of my recipes are in the cooking section if you are interested.
  13. Today is my 2710th post! I thought that was at least memorable!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Thursday Thirteen

Feb 8 tt13

Once again, on Wednesday we had more snow! So this week’s Thursday Thirteen is all about the snow! Again!

  1. When I got up to go to Weight Watchers on Wednesday morning, it was very lightly snowing. I wondered if they would cancel class, but they didn’t
  2. So I tossed my gear in the Jeep and off I went to class.
  3. At first I thought that the class would be a small one, but almost everyone showed up.
  4. I did not do well this week, which bummed me out!
  5. However, it made me feel determined to persevere and do better next week!
  6. I got out of class and started to drive home in the heavy snow. The roads were covered and it was not a good thing.
  7. I did have the Jeep in 4-wheel drive, a seat belt on, and I drove slowly.
  8. I felt the Jeep skid a few times, but I remained calm. (Well, sort of!)
  9. I stopped to get the mail and newspaper.
  10. Then drove carefully back to our home.
  11. Where the snow continued to fall.
  12. Hubby called and told me that the roads were bad where he was (on a major highway).
  13. We canceled all plans and will stay in for the rest of the night.
